Question 1965: Can a vow (Nadhr) be revoked before achieving the intended need?

✅ Answer: Consider the following narrations:

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 7, p. 456

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: If you say *'Lillahi Alayya'* (I vow to Allah), then if you break your vow, you must offer the expiation for an oath.

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 7, p. 458

Safwan Jamal said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): May my father and mother be sacrificed for you! I have made a vow to walk to the House of Allah (Kaaba). The Imam replied: *Offer the expiation for your oath*, because you have taken an oath upon yourself, and whatever you vow for Allah, you must fulfill!

✅ A vow (Nadhr) or an oath (Qasam), if it meets the required Islamic conditions, must be fulfilled and cannot be revoked. If broken, its expiation must be given.

✅ There is no narration allowing the revocation of a vow, even before achieving the intended need.
