Question 1962: In a hadith, it is stated, 'A ghali (exaggerator) is someone who says something about us that we have not said about ourselves.' Today, the exaggerators have hadiths and narrations to support their beliefs for the public! How is it possible that they are exaggerators?!
✅ Answer: Pay attention to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 2, p. 75
A man from the Ansar named Sa'ad asked Imam Baqir (peace be upon him): 'May I be sacrificed for you! Who is a ghali?' The Imam replied: 'A group of people who say things about us that we do not say about ourselves! They are not from us, and we are not from them!'
📚 Ma'ani al-Akhbar, p. 390
Imam Kazim (peace be upon him) said: 'The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: Any hadith that reaches you from me and is in accordance with the truth, then I have said it. And any hadith that reaches you from me and is not in accordance with the truth, then I have not said it. I never speak except the truth!'
📚 Mahasin, p. 221
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Any hadith that reaches you from us, and the Quran does not confirm it, then it is false!'
4⃣ From Ali ibn Ayyub, from Abu Abdullah
📚 Mahasin, p. 221
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: When a hadith is narrated to you from me, attribute to me the most pleasant, easiest, and most guiding one. If it is in accordance with the Quran, then I have said it. If it is not in accordance with the Quran, then I have not said it!'
📚 Mahasin, p. 225
Ibn Abi Ya'fur said: 'I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about the differences in hadiths, where some are narrated by trustworthy individuals and others by untrustworthy ones. The Imam said: When a hadith comes to you, and you find evidence from the Quran or the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) supporting it, then accept it. Otherwise, the one who brought it is more deserving of it!'
📚 Tafsir al-'Ayashi, p. 9
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said in a sermon in Mina or Mecca: O people! What reaches you from me that is in accordance with the Quran, then I have said it. And what reaches you from me that is not in accordance with the Quran, then I have not said it!'
Imam Baqir and Imam Sadiq (peace be upon them) said: 'Do not affirm anything unless it is in accordance with the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family)!'
📚 Tafsir al-'Ayashi, p. 10
✅ In Hadith 1⃣, it is observed that the definition of a ghali is: 'Someone who says something about us that we have not said about ourselves.'
Today, the exaggerators cite hadiths from unreliable sources to support their exaggerated beliefs, thinking that since it is in the form of a hadith, they have based their beliefs on the words of the Imam. However, the crucial point is that, according to the above narrations and others, any hadith that is not in accordance with the truth, the Quran, and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) is something that 'the Imams (peace be upon them) did not say,' and it can never be the basis of a believer's beliefs!
