✅ Answer: Please consider the following narrations:

1⃣عَنْ أَبِی بَصِیرٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مَنْ ذُکِرْتُ عِنْدَهُ فَنَسِیَ أَنْ یُصَلِّیَ عَلَیَّ خَطَّأَ اللَّهُ بِهِ طَرِیقَ الْجَنَّةِ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Volume 2, Page 495

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever hears my name mentioned and forgets to send Salawat upon me, Allah will lead him astray from the path to Paradise!

2⃣ عَنْ عَبْداللَّهِ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ الْبَخِیلُ حَقّاً مَنْ ذُکِرْتُ عِنْدَهُ فَلَمْ یُصَلِّ عَلَیَّ.

Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) narrated from his grandfather that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: The true miser is the one who hears my name mentioned and does not send Salawat upon me!

3⃣عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ الْبَاقِرِ فِی حَدِیثٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ لِی جَبْرَئِیلُ مَنْ ذُکِرْتَ عِنْدَهُ فَلَمْ یُصَلِّ عَلَیْکَ فَأَبْعَدَهُ اللَّهُ فَقُلْتُ آمِینَ

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Gabriel (peace be upon him) told me: Whoever hears your name mentioned and does not send Salawat upon you, Allah distances him from His mercy! Then I said: Amen!

4⃣عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنِ الرِّضَا فِی کِتَابِهِ إِلَی الْمَأْمُونِ قَالَ وَ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَی النَّبِیِّ صلی الله علیه و آله وَاجِبَةٌ فِی کُلِّ مَوْطِنٍ وَ عِنْدَ الْعُطَاسِ وَ الذَّبَائِحِ وَ غَیْرِ ذَلِکَ

📚 Uyun Akhbar al-Ridha, Volume 2, Page 124

Imam Ridha (peace be upon him) wrote in a letter to Ma'mun: ... Sending Salawat upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is obligatory in every situation, including when sneezing, slaughtering, and otherwise!

5⃣عَلِیُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنْ حَرِیزٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ إِذَا أَذَّنْتَ فَأَفْصِحْ بِالْأَلِفِ وَ الْهَاءِ وَ صَلِّ عَلَی النَّبِیِّ کُلَّمَا ذَکَرْتَهُ أَوْ ذَکَرَهُ ذَاکِرٌ فِی أَذَانٍ وَ غَیْرِهِ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Volume 3, Page 303

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: When you perform the Adhan, pronounce the letters Alif and Ha clearly and distinctly, and whenever you mention the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in Adhan or outside of it, send Salawat upon him!

6⃣عَنِ الْحَلَبِیِّ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ کُلُّ مَا ذَکَرْتَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِهِ وَ النَّبِیَّ فَهُوَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ الْحَدِیثَ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Volume 3, Page 337

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Whatever you use to mention Allah, the Almighty, and His Messenger, it is considered part of the prayer!

7⃣قَالَ الصَّادِقُ کُلُّ مَا نَاجَیْتَ بِهِ رَبَّکَ

فِی الصَّلَاةِ فَلَیْسَ بِکَلَامٍ.

📚 Al-Faqih, Volume 1, Page 317

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Whatever you use to engage in intimate discourse with your Lord during prayer does not count as speech that invalidates the prayer!

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, sending Salawat upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and his family is obligatory whenever his name is mentioned. Even if someone is praying and hears the name of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), they should send Salawat without delay. This is because the sacred mention of Salawat is not considered speech that invalidates the prayer, and mentioning Allah and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) during prayer is not problematic. Therefore, even if the name of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is mentioned during the recitation of prayer, we send Salawat and then continue the recitation.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَجِّلْ لِوَلِیِّکَ الْفَرَجَ وَ الْعَافِیَةَ وَ النَّصْر
