1⃣عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنِ الرِّضَا أَنَّهُ کَتَبَ إِلَی الْمَأْمُونِ وَ الْخِتَانُ سُنَّةٌ وَاجِبَةٌ لِلرِّجَالِ وَ مَکْرُمَةٌ لِلنِّسَاءِ.

Imam Ridha (peace be upon him) wrote in his letter to Ma'mun (may Allah curse him): 'Circumcision is an obligatory tradition for men and an honor for women!'

2⃣عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِیِّ عَنِ السَّکُونِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ أَمِیرُ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ إِذَا أَسْلَمَ الرَّجُلُ اخْتَتَنَ وَ لَوْ بَلَغَ ثَمَانِینَ سَنَةً.

📚 *Al-Kafi*, Vol. 6, p. 37

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: If a man converts to Islam, he must undergo circumcision, even if he has reached eighty years of age!'

3⃣عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِیَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: الْأَغْلَفُ لَا یَطُوفُ بِالْبَیْتِ وَ لَا بَأْسَ أَنْ تَطُوفَ الْمَرْأَةُ.

📚 *Al-Tahdhib*, Vol. 5, p. 126

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'A man who has not been circumcised should not perform Tawaf around the Kaaba (he must not perform Tawaf), but it is permissible for an uncircumcised woman to perform Tawaf!'

4⃣عَنْ أَبِی عَلِیٍّ الْأَشْعَرِیِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ مَیْمُونٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فِی الرَّجُلِ یُسْلِمُ فَیُرِیدُ أَنْ یَحُجَّ وَ قَدْ حَضَرَ الْحَجُّ أَ یَحُجُّ أَمْ یَخْتَتِنُ قَالَ لَا یَحُجُّ حَتَّی یَخْتَتِنَ.

📚 *Al-Kafi*, Vol. 4, p. 281

It was asked of Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a man who converts to Islam and intends to perform Hajj, and the season of Hajj has arrived: 'Should he perform Hajj or undergo circumcision first?' The Imam said: 'He should not perform Hajj until he has been circumcised!'

5⃣عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنْ حَرِیزٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْداللَّهِ قَالَ: لَا بَأْسَ أَنْ تَطُوفَ الْمَرْأَةُ غَیْرَ الْمَخْفُوضَةِ فَأَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَلَا یَطُوفُ إِلَّا وَ هُوَ مُخْتَتِنٌ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'It is permissible for an uncircumcised woman to perform Tawaf, but a man should not perform Tawaf unless he has been circumcised!'

6⃣عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِیرٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَاعَبْداللَّهِ عَنْ نَصْرَانِیٍّ أَسْلَمَ وَ حَضَرَ الْحَجُّ وَ لَمْ یَکُنِ اخْتَتَنَ أَ یَحُجُّ قَبْلَ أَنْ یَخْتَتِنَ قَالَ لَا وَ لَکِنْ یَبْدَأُ بِالسُّنَّةِ.

📚 *Qurb al-Isnad*, p. 47

Hanan bin Sadr said: 'I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a Christian who converts to Islam, and the season of Hajj arrives before he has been circumcised. Should he perform Hajj before undergoing circumcision?' The Imam said: 'No! However, he should begin the practice (of circumcision)!'

7⃣عَنِ السَّکُونِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ في حديث... إِنَّ الْأَرْضَ تَنْجَسُ مِنْ بَوْلِ الْأَغْلَفِ أَرْبَعِینَ صَبَاحاً.

📚 *Al-Kafi*, Vol. 6, p. 35

In a hadith, Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'The earth becomes impure with the urine of an uncircumcised man for forty days!'

8⃣عَنْ عَلِیٍّ فِی حَدِیثِ الْأَرْبَعِمِائَةِ قَالَ: إِنَّ الْأَرْضَ لَتَضِجُّ إِلَی اللَّهِ تَعَالَی مِنْ بَوْلِ الْأَغْلَفِ.

Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: 'The earth cries out to Allah for the urine of an uncircumcised man!'

9⃣عَنْ عَلِیٍّ قَالَ: الْأَغْلَفُ لَا یَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ وَ إِنْ کَانَ أَقْرَأَهُمْ لِأَنَّهُ ضَیَّعَ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ أَعْظَمَهَا وَ لَا تُقْبَلُ لَهُ شَهَادَةٌ وَ لَا یُصَلَّی عَلَیْهِ إِلَّا أَنْ یَکُونَ تَرَکَ ذَلِکَ خَوْفاً عَلَی نَفْسِهِ.

📚 *Al-Tahdhib*, Vol. 3, p. 30

Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: 'A man who is not circumcised cannot lead the prayer of the people, even if he is the most knowledgeable among them, because he has neglected the most important of traditions. His testimony is also not accepted, and the funeral prayer for him should not be performed unless he abandoned this act out of fear for his life!'

✅ Not performing the funeral prayer for an uncircumcised man does not mean he should be buried without prayer.

✅ The importance of the obligatory tradition of circumcision in the above narrations and others is clear, and if someone converts to Islam in adulthood and is not circumcised, it is obligatory for him to undergo circumcision.
