Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Circumcising a boy is a tradition, but circumcising girls is not part of the tradition!'

2⃣۴- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: الْخِتَانُ فِی الرَّجُلِ سُنَّةٌ وَ مَکْرُمَةٌ فِی النِّسَاءِ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Circumcision for men is a tradition, and for women, it is an honorable practice and a virtuous act!'

3⃣عَلِیُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَسْعَدَةَ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: خَفْضُ الْجَارِیَةِ مَکْرُمَةٌ وَ لَیْسَتْ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ وَ لَا شَیْئاً وَاجِباً وَ أَیُّ شَیْءٍ أَفْضَلُ مِنَ الْمَکْرُمَةِ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Circumcising a girl is an act of honor and virtue, but it is not part of the tradition and is not obligatory, and what could be more virtuous than an honorable act!'

4⃣عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِیَادٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ خَلَفِ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: کَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ یُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ طَیْبَةَ تَخْفِضُ الْجَوَارِیَ فَدَعَاهَا النَّبِیُّ فَقَالَ لَهَا یَا أُمَّ طَیْبَةَ إِذَا خَفَضْتِ فَأَشِمِّی وَ لَا تُجْحِفِی فَإِنَّهُ أَصْفَی لِلَوْنِ الْوَجْهِ وَ أَحْظَی عِنْدَ الْبَعْلِ.

📚 *Al-Kafi*, Vol. 5, p. 119

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'There was a woman known as Umm al-Tayyiba who circumcised girls. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) called her and said: 'O Umm al-Tayyiba! When you circumcise, make a slight incision and do not exaggerate, for it makes the color shine brighter and increases the benefit for the husband!'

5⃣عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ یَحْیَی عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ وَهْبٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ عَلِیٍّ قَالَ: لَا تُخْفَضُ الْجَارِیَةُ حَتَّی تَبْلُغَ سَبْعَ سِنِینَ.

📚 *Al-Tahdhib*, Vol. 6, p. 360

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) narrated from his father that Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: 'A girl is not circumcised until she reaches the age of seven!'
