1⃣عَنْ عِدَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عُبَیْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: إِذَا زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ دَخَلَ وَقْتُ الصَّلَاتَیْنِ إِلَّا أَنَّ هَذِهِ قَبْلَ هَذِهِ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 276

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: When the sun passes its zenith, the time for the two prayers (Dhuhr and Asr) begins, but Dhuhr prayer must be performed before Asr.

2⃣عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی وَ مُوسَی بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ جَمِیعاً عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِی یَزِیدَ وَ هُوَ دَاوُدُ بْنُ فَرْقَدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: إِذَا زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ دَخَلَ وَقْتُ الظُّهْرِ حَتَّی یَمْضِیَ مِقْدَارُ مَا یُصَلِّی الْمُصَلِّی أَرْبَعَ رَکَعَاتٍ فَإِذَا مَضَی ذَلِکَ فَقَدْ دَخَلَ وَقْتُ الظُّهْرِ وَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّی یَبْقَی مِنَ الشَّمْسِ مِقْدَارُ مَا یُصَلِّی أَرْبَعَ رَکَعَاتٍ فَإِذَا بَقِیَ مِقْدَارُ ذَلِکَ فَقَدْ خَرَجَ وَقْتُ الظُّهْرِ وَ بَقِیَ وَقْتُ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّی تَغِیبَ الشَّمْسُ.

📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 25

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: When the sun passes its zenith, the time for Dhuhr prayer starts and lasts until the time it takes to perform four units of prayer. After this period, the time shared between Dhuhr and Asr begins, lasting until only the time for four units remains before sunset. At this point, the time for Dhuhr ends, and the time for Asr continues until sunset.

✅ Based on these and other narrations, the time for both Dhuhr and Asr begins after the sun passes its zenith. However, since Dhuhr must be performed before Asr, the time from the zenith to the duration of four units is dedicated to Dhuhr, and the final four units of time before sunset are dedicated to Asr.

✅ Therefore, the end time for Dhuhr prayer is four units of time before sunset, and the end time for Asr prayer is sunset.

✅ It is recommended to study the virtues of performing prayer at the beginning of its time, the primary and secondary times for prayer, and cases where delaying prayer from its primary time is permissible.
