Question 1889: Is the Amulet of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) only for carrying with you, or is reciting it also beneficial?

✅ Answer: Pay attention to the following narration:

1⃣ Yaser Khadim says: When Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (peace be upon him) stayed at the palace of Humaid ibn Qahtabah, he took off his clothes and gave them to Humaid, who gave them to his servant to wash. After a short time, the servant came back with a piece of paper, which she had found in the Imam's collar. She gave it to Humaid and said: 'I found this in the collar of Abu al-Hasan.' I said to the Imam: 'May I be sacrificed for you! The servant found a note in your collar! What is it?' The Imam said: 'O Humaid, this is an amulet that we do not part with. Whoever carries it will be protected from calamities, and it will serve as a shield and protection from the cursed Satan!' Then the Imam dictated the amulet to Humaid, and this is what it says:

Seyyed Ibn Tawus says: There is an interesting story about this amulet! As narrated by Aba Salt al-Harawi, who says: One day, the Imam was sitting at home when a messenger from Harun al-Rashid (may Allah curse him) came and said: 'Answer the call of the Commander of the Believers!' Imam Reza (peace be upon him) stood up and said to me: 'O Aba Salt! He has not called me at this moment except for evil! By Allah, because of the words I have received from my grandfather, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), it is impossible for him to do something with me that I dislike!'

He says: I accompanied the Imam until we entered Harun al-Rashid's presence. When the Imam saw him, he recited the entire amulet. When he stood in front of him, Harun al-Rashid looked at him and said: 'O Abu al-Hasan! We have commanded that one hundred thousand dirhams be given to you, and write down the needs of your family!'

When the Imam returned, Harun al-Rashid looked behind him and said: 'I intended something, and Allah intended something, and what Allah intended was good!'
