مَا حُکْمُ مَنْ شَکَّ في طَوَافِهِ؟

1⃣عَنْ أَبِی بَصِیرٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ شَکَّ فِی طَوَافِ الْفَرِیضَةِ قَالَ یُعِیدُ کُلَّمَا شَکَّ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاکَ شَکَّ فِی طَوَافِ نَافِلَةٍ قَالَ یَبْنِی عَلَی الْأَقَلِّ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Volume 4, Page 417

Abu Basir says: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who doubts during the obligatory Tawaf. The Imam said: They must repeat whatever they doubt. I said: May I be sacrificed for you! What if they doubt during the non-obligatory Tawaf? He replied: They should base it on the lesser number.

2⃣عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْمُرْهِبِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ الثَّانِی قَالَ: قُلْتُ رَجُلٌ شَکَّ فِی طَوَافِهِ فَلَمْ یَدْرِ سِتَّةً طَافَ أَمْ سَبْعَةً قَالَ إِنْ کَانَ فِی فَرِیضَةٍ أَعَادَ کُلَّمَا شَکَّ فِیهِ وَ إِنْ کَانَ نَافِلَةً بَنَی عَلَی مَا هُوَ أَقَلُّ.

📚 Al-Tahdhib, Volume 5, Page 110

Ahmad says: I said to Imam Kadhim (peace be upon him): A person is in doubt during their Tawaf and does not know if they have completed six rounds or seven. The Imam said: If it is during the obligatory Tawaf, they must repeat whatever they doubt. If it is the non-obligatory Tawaf, they should base it on the lesser number.

3⃣مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِیلَ عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِیرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مَا تَقُولُ فِی رَجُلٍ طَافَ فَأَوْهَمَ فَقَالَ طُفْتُ أَرْبَعَةً أَوْ طُفْتُ ثَلَاثَةً فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَیَّ الطَّوَافَیْنِ کَانَ طَوَافَ نَافِلَةٍ أَمْ طَوَافَ فَرِیضَةٍ قَالَ إِنْ کَانَ طَوَافَ فَرِیضَةٍ فَلْیُلْقِ مَا فِی یَدِهِ وَ لْیَسْتَأْنِفْ وَ إِنْ کَانَ طَوَافَ نَافِلَةٍ فَاسْتَیْقَنَ ثَلَاثَةً وَ هُوَ فِی

شَکٍّ مِنَ الرَّابِعِ أَنَّهُ طَافَ فَلْیَبْنِ عَلَی الثَّلَاثَةِ فَإِنَّهُ یَجُوزُ لَهُ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Volume 4, Page 417

Hanan bin Sudayr says: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): What do you say about someone who is performing Tawaf and doubts whether they have completed four rounds or three? The Imam said: If it is the obligatory Tawaf, they should disregard the number they have and start from the beginning. If it is the non-obligatory Tawaf and they are certain about three rounds but doubt the fourth, they should base it on three rounds, and this is permissible for them!

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, if someone doubts the number of rounds in the obligatory Tawaf, they must repeat the Tawaf from the beginning. However, if it is the non-obligatory Tawaf, they should base it on the lesser number and continue from there.
