1⃣عن إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ جَرِیر عَنْ أبی عَبْداللَّه قَالَ: إِذَا أُغِیرَ الرَّجُلُ فِی أَهْلِهِ أَوْ بَعْضِ مَنَاکِحِهِ مِنْ مَمْلُوکِهِ فَلَمْ یَغَرْ وَ لَمْ یُغَیِّرْ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَزَّوَجَلَّ إِلَیْهِ طَائِراً یُقَالُ لَهُ الْقَفَنْدَرُ حَتَّی یَسْقُطَ عَلَی عَارِضَةِ بَابِهِ ثُمَّ یُمْهِلَهُ أَرْبَعِینَ یَوْماً ثُمَّ یَهْتِفَ بِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَیُورٌ یُحِبُّ کُلَّ غَیُورٍ فَإِنْ هُوَ غَارَ و غَیَّرَ وَ أَنْکَرَ ذَلِکَ فَأَنْکَرَهُ وَ إِلَّا طَارَ حَتَّی یَسْقُطَ عَلَی رَأْسِهِ فَیَخْفِقَ بِجَنَاحَیْهِ عَلَی عَیْنَیْهِ ثُمَّ یَطِیرَ عَنْهُ فَیَنْزِعُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مِنْهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِکَ رُوحَ الْإِیمَانِ و تُسَمِّیهِ الْمَلَائِکَةُ الدَّیُّوثَ

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 5, p. 536

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: When a man feels jealousy (gheira) regarding his wife or some of his maidservants, but he does not express it, Allah sends a bird called Qafandar to him. This bird lands on the upper beam of his door and gives him a forty-day grace period, during which it calls out to him: 'Allah is protective and loves those who are protective.' If the man then expresses his jealousy (gheira), denounces the act, and forbids it, nothing happens. But if he does not, the bird flies and lands on the man's head, flaps its wings over his eyes, and then flies away. Subsequently, Allah removes the spirit of faith from him, and the angels call him a 'dayyuth' (one who lacks protective jealousy).

2⃣عَنْ إِسْحَاق بْنِ جرِیر قال سَمِعْتُ أَبَاعَبْداللَّهِ یَقُولُ إِنَّ شَیْطَاناً یُقَالُ لَهُ الْقَفَنْدَرُ إِذَا ضُرِبَ فی مَنْزِلِ الرَّجُلِ أَرْبَعِینَ صَبَاحاً بِالْبَرْبَطِ و دَخَلَ عَلَیْهِ الرِّجَالُ وَضَعَ ذَلِکَ الشَّیْطَانُ کُلَّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهُ عَلَی مِثْلِهِ مِنْ صَاحِبِ الْبَیْتِ ثُمَّ نَفَخَ فِیهِ نَفْخَةً فَلَا یَغَارُ بَعْدَ هَذَا حَتَّی تُؤْتَی نِسَاؤُهُ فَلَا یَغَارُ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 5, p. 536

Ishaq bin Jarir said: I heard Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) say: There is a devil called Qafandar. If a man’s house is filled with the sound of a lute for forty days and men enter his house, this devil places each part of its body on a corresponding part of the man's body and blows into it once. As a result, the man loses his jealousy (gheira) and people approach his women, but he does not care.

3⃣عن أَبِی داوُدَ الْمُسْتَرِقِّ قَال: مَنْ ضُرِبَ فِی بَیْتِهِ بَرْبَطٌ أَرْبَعِینَ یَوْماً سَلَّطَ اللَّهُ عَلَیْهِ شَیْطَاناً یُقَالُ لَهُ الْقَفَنْدَرُ فَلَا یُبْقِی عُضْواً مِنْ أَعْضَائِهِ إِلَّا قَعَدَ عَلَیْهِ فَإِذَا کَانَ کَذَلِکَ نُزِعَ مِنْهُ الْحَیَاءُ و لَمْ یُبَالِ ما قَالَ وَ لَا مَا قِیلَ فِیهِ

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 6, p. 434

Abu Dawud al-Mustarq said: (The Imam said) If someone plays a lute in his house for forty days, Allah will place a devil named Qafandar in control over him. This devil sits on each part of his body, removing his sense of shame, so that he no longer cares what is said or done to him.

✅ According to the three narrations above from the book Al-Kafi by Sheikh Kulayni (may Allah have mercy on him), 'Qafandar' is a bird that Allah sends to a man who does not express jealousy (gheira) over his wife or maidservants when he should. If the man fails to show jealousy (gheira), the bird completes its mission as described in narration 1⃣, resulting in the man's loss of the spirit of faith and being labeled as 'dayyuth' by the angels.

✅ According to narrations 2⃣ and 3⃣, Qafandar is a devil. If someone plays the lute (which is the oud) in his house for forty days, this devil places its body parts on the man's body parts, blowing into him, removing his sense of jealousy (gheira) and shame to the extent that his women commit adultery and he remains indifferent.

✅ The prevalent moral corruption in society today is due to the lack of protective jealousy (gheira) and the playing of the oud and lute in people's homes.

✅ Nowadays, official and unofficial media promote what they call 'authentic Iranian music,' playing the oud and lute in people's homes. People need to be aware that this neglect can have dangerous consequences.
