1⃣عَنْ أَیُّوبَ بْنِ نُوحٍ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا علیه السلام أَنَّهُ قَالَ: إِذَا رُفِعَ عَلَمُکُمْ مِنْ بَیْنِ أَظْهُرِکُمْ فَتَوَقَّعُوا الْفَرَجَ مِنْ تَحْتِ أَقْدَامِکُمْ.

Imam Reza, peace be upon him, said: When the flag (of the Imam) is removed from among you, wait for the reappearance from under your feet!

2⃣عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ محمد بن زياد قَالَ: کَتَبْتُ إِلَی أَبِی الْحَسَنِ صاحب العسکر أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الْفَرَجِ فَکَتَبَ إِذَا غَابَ صَاحِبُکُمْ عَنْ دَارِ الظَّالِمِینَ فَتَوَقَّعُوا الْفَرَجَ.

Ali bin Muhammad said: I wrote a letter to Imam Hadi, peace be upon him, and asked him about the reappearance. The Imam replied: When your master goes into occultation among the oppressors, always wait for the reappearance!

3⃣عَنْ أَبِی الْمُرْهِفِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ علیه السلام: هَلَکَتِ الْمَحَاضِیرُ قُلْتُ وَ مَا الْمَحَاضِیرُ قَالَ الْمُسْتَعْجِلُونَ وَ نَجَا الْمُقَرِّبُونَ وَ ثَبَتَ الْحِصْنُ عَلَی أَوْتَادِهَا کُونُوا أَحْلَاسَ بُیُوتِکُمْ فَإِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ عَلَی مَنْ أَثَارَهَا وَ إِنَّهُمْ لَا یُرِیدُونَکُمْ بِحَاجَةٍ إِلَّا أَتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ بِشَاغِلٍ لِأَمْرٍ یُعْرَضُ لَهُمْ.

Abu Marhaf said: Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: The hasty ones perished! I asked: Who are the hasty ones?! He replied: Those who rush (to the uprising before the reappearance)!

And the ones near the ropes (those who are waiting for the reappearance) are saved, and the fort is firmly on its pegs! You remain in your homes, for the fitnah (trials) is detrimental to those who incite it, and indeed, they (meaning your enemies) will not harm you except that Allah causes an occupation for them due to something they face!

4⃣عَنِ الْفُضَیْلِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ علیه السلام هَلْ لِهَذَا الْأَمْرِ وَقْتٌ فَقَالَ کَذَبَ الْوَقَّاتُونَ کَذَبَ الْوَقَّاتُونَ کَذَبَ الْوَقَّاتُونَ.

Fazil said: I asked Imam Baqir, peace be upon him: Does this matter (reappearance) have a set time? The Imam replied: The time-setters are lying! The time-setters are lying! The time-setters are lying!

5⃣عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ کَثِیرٍ قَالَ: کُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ علیه السلام إِذْ دَخَلَ عَلَیْهِ مِهْزَمٌ الْأَسَدِیُّ فَقَالَ أَخْبِرْنِی جُعِلْتُ فِدَاکَ مَتَی هَذَا الْأَمْرُ الَّذِی تَنْتَظِرُونَهُ فَقَدْ طَالَ فَقَالَ یَا مِهْزَمُ کَذَبَ الْوَقَّاتُونَ وَ هَلَکَ الْمُسْتَعْجِلُونَ وَ نَجَا الْمُسَلِّمُونَ وَ إِلَیْنَا یَصِیرُونَ.

Abdulrahman bin Khatir said: I was with Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, when Mahzam Asadi entered and said: May I be your ransom! Tell me, when will this matter you are waiting for happen?! Indeed, it has taken so long! Imam replied: O Mahzam! The time-setters are lying, and the hasty ones will perish, while the people of submission will be saved and will come to us!

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, all Shi'ahs at all times and in any situation are required to wait and consider the time of the reappearance of Imam Mahdi, peace be upon him, to be near. However, they have absolutely no right to set a time for the reappearance, and anyone who sets a time for it is definitely lying.

Therefore, while we pray for the hastening of the reappearance and consider it near, we must never set a time for it.

✅ In recent years, some activists in the field of Mahdism have hinted and explicitly tried to specify the year of the reappearance and the emergence of Sufyani, entertaining their audience for a while, and indirectly determined the last rulers of some countries before the reappearance. But it did not take long for their lies to become evident, and without apologizing for this great mistake, they withdrew into their shells!

✅ Therefore, without specifying a time, in order to prevent our hearts from becoming hardened and despairing, we must consider the reappearance to be near and always maintain a state of waiting while engaging in prayer for its hastening.

✅ Considering the reappearance to be near, while not setting a time, has a precise boundary, which results in constant expectation without despair. In this precise duty, we and future generations are equal to those who lived a day after the occultation of Imam Mahdi, peace be upon him!
