Question 1779: Can we curse and condemn a Shia believer who has correct beliefs but has wronged us or someone else?
✅ Answer: Please consider the following narrations:
📚Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 78, p. 280
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said to Abdullah ibn Jundab: O son of Jundab! Speak only good about sinners who share your belief, and humbly pray to Allah for their guidance and repentance. Anyone who seeks us, loves us, refrains from befriending our enemies, speaks of what they know, and remains silent about what they do not understand or find confusing, is destined for Paradise!
📚Qurb al-Isnad, p. 171
Imam Reza (peace be upon him) said: Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) stated: Do not be hasty in judging our Shia! If one of their steps falters, the other will remain steadfast!
📚Amali al-Tusi, Vol. 1, p. 132
Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: Allah only solidifies the love of Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) in someone's heart if, when one of their steps falters, the other remains firm!
📚Al-Mahasin, p. 588
Hisham narrated: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a farming companion who prays on a roof where wheat and barley are scattered and stepped on. Imam became upset and said: If this person were not one of our companions, I would have cursed him!
📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 579
Yunus ibn Abi Wahb narrated: I arrived in Medina and visited Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him), saying: May I be sacrificed for you! I came to you but did not visit Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him). The Imam said: You did something wrong! If you were not one of our Shia, I wouldn't have even looked at you! Why did you not visit someone whom Allah, His angels, prophets, and believers visit? I replied: I did not know...
6. Imam Sadiq Ja'far ibn Muhammad said: When a person is wronged and continuously prays against the oppressor, Allah, the Almighty, says: Here is another person praying against you, claiming you have wronged them. If you wish, I will answer your prayer and theirs against you, or I will delay both and let My mercy encompass you both.
📚Amali al-Saduq, p. 261
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: When someone is oppressed and persistently curses their oppressor, Allah says: Another person is cursing you, claiming you oppressed them! If you wish, I will answer both curses or delay them to let My forgiveness embrace you both.
✅ O lovers and Shia of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them)! Based on the above narrations and others, refrain from cursing and condemning Shia believers who have correct beliefs but may have committed errors. Instead, as mentioned in narration 1, pray for their repentance and success in abandoning sin.
