Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, said: Kindness and charity ward off poverty, increase lifespan, and repel seventy kinds of bad deaths from the giver!

4⃣ عَنْ عَبْدالرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَیْدٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِاللَّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَرْضُ الْقِیَامَةِ نَارٌ مَا خَلَا ظِلَّ الْمُؤْمِنِ فَإِنَّ صَدَقَتَهُ تُظِلُّهُ.

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: The ground on the Day of Judgment is all fire, except for the shade of a believer, for his charity casts a shadow over him!

5⃣عَنِ السَّکُونِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْداللَّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ تَصَدَّقُوا فَإِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ تَزِیدُ فِی الْمَالِ کَثْرَةً فَتَصَدَّقُوا رَحِمَکُمُ اللَّهُ.

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: Give charity, as charity increases wealth; therefore, give charity, and may Allah show you mercy!

Imam Ridha, peace be upon him, narrated from his ancestors that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: The best wealth and assets of an individual are charity!

Amir al-Mu'minin, peace be upon him, said: When a person becomes poor and needy, trade with Allah by giving charity!

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: Treat your sick with charity, repel calamities with prayers, and bring down sustenance by giving charity, for charity separates from the beard of seventy devils!

1⃣1⃣عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ بَیَّاعِ الْهَرَوِیِّ قَالَ: کُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَذَکَرُوا الْوَجَعَ فَقَالَ دَاوُوا مَرْضَاکُمْ بِالصَّدَقَةِ وَ مَا عَلَی أَحَدِکُمْ أَنْ یَتَصَدَّقَ بِقُوتِ یَوْمِهِ إِنَّ مَلَکَ الْمَوْتِ یُدْفَعُ إِلَیْهِ الصَّکُّ بِقَبْضِ رُوحِ الْعَبْدِ فَیَتَصَدَّقُ فَیُقَالُ لَهُ رُدَّ عَلَیْهِ الصَّکَّ.

📚 Thawab al-A'mal, p. 168, Hadith 3

Mu'adh says: I was in the presence of Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, and the topic of illness and disease came up. The Imam said: Treat your sick with charity. What harm is there if one of you gives away his daily sustenance? Indeed, it is like giving a note for the retrieval of the soul of a servant, and he gives charity, so it is said to the Angel of Death: Return the note to him!

Abdullah ibn Sinan says: I heard Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, saying: Giving charity with one's hand protects from a bad death, wards off seventy types of calamities, and separates from the beard of seventy devils, all of whom command him not to perform the act!

3⃣1⃣عَنْ عَبْداللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ یَقُولُ یُسْتَحَبُّ لِلْمَرِیضِ أَنْ یُعْطِیَ السَّائِلَ بِیَدِهِ وَ یَأْمُرَ السَّائِلَ أَنْ یَدْعُوَ لَهُ.

Abdullah ibn Sinan says: I heard Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, saying: It is recommended for the sick to give charity with their hands and ask the beggar to pray for them!

4⃣1⃣عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِی حَفْصَةَ فِی حَدِیثٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْداللَّهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّوَجَلَّ إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِی مَنْ یَتَصَدَّقُ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ فَأُرَبِّیهَا لَهُ کَمَا یُرَبِّی أَحَدُکُمْ فَلُوَّهُ حَتَّی أَجْعَلَهَا لَهُ مِثْلَ جَبَلِ أُحُدٍ.

📚 Amali al-Tusi, Vol. 1, p. 125

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: Allah Almighty says: Surely, one of My servants giving half a date as charity, I make it grow for him just as one of you grows the foal of his horse, until I place it like Mount Uhud for him!

5⃣1⃣عَن سُلَیْمَان بْنِ عَمْرٍو النَّخَعِیِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْداللَّهِ یَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ بَکِّرُوا بِالصَّدَقَةِ فَإِنَّ الْبَلَاءَ لَا یَتَخَطَّاهَا.

Salim says: I heard Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, saying: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: Give charity on the first day, as no calamity is passes through charity!

6⃣1⃣عَنْ مِسْمَعِ بْنِ عَبْدالْمَلِکِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْداللَّهِ قَالَ: مَنْ تَصَدَّقَ بِصَدَقَةٍ حِینَ یُصْبِحُ أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ نَحْسَ ذَلِکَ الْیَوْمِ.

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: One who gives charity in the morning, Allah takes away from him that day's calamity!

7⃣1⃣عن حماد بن عمرو و أنس بن محمد عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ آبَائِهِ فِی وَصِیَّةِ النَّبِیِّ لِعَلِیٍّ قَالَ: یَا عَلِیُّ الصَّدَقَةُ تَرُدُّ الْقَضَاءَ الَّذِی قَدْ أُبْرِمَ إِبْرَاماً

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, narrated from his ancestors that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said in his will to Amir al-Mu'minin, peace be upon him: O Ali! Giving charity turns back the decreed destiny!

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, narrated from his ancestors that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: Indeed, Allah, there is no god but Him, by means of charity, repels sickness, plague, fire, drowning, collapsing walls and buildings, and madness, and he enumerated seventy gates of evil!

9⃣1⃣عن حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِیرٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ لَتَدْفَعُ سَبْعِینَ بَلِیَّةً مِنْ بَلَایَا الدُّنْیَا مَعَ مِیتَةِ السَّوْءِ إِنَّ صَاحِبَهَا لَا یَمُوتُ مِیتَةَ السَّوْءِ أَبَداً مَعَ مَا یُدَّخَرُ لِصَاحِبِهَا فِی الْآخِرَة

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 6

Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, said: Surely, charity removes seventy calamities from the evils of the world, along with a bad death. Indeed, the giver of charity never departs from the world with a bad death, along with what is stored for him in the Hereafter!

0⃣2⃣عَنْ مُعَلَّی بْنِ خُنَیْس عن أبی عبداللَّه فی حدیث قال: إِنَّ صَدَقَةَ اللَّیْلِ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ وَ تَمْحُو الذَّنْبَ الْعَظِیمَ وَ تُهَوِّنُ الْحِسَابَ وَ صَدَقَةَ النَّهَارِ تُثْمِرُ الْمَالَ وَ تَزِیدُ فِی الْعُمُرِ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) stated in a hadith: Indeed, nightly charity silences the anger of the Lord, erases grave sins, eases the reckoning, increases wealth during the day, and adds to one's lifespan.

1⃣2⃣عَنْ فُضَیْلِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: مَنْ تَصَدَّقَ فِی یَوْمٍ أَوْ لَیْلَةٍ إِنْ کَانَ یَوْمٌ فَیَوْمٌ وَ إِنْ کَانَ لَیْلَةٌ فَلَیْلَةٌ دَفَعَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ الْهَدْمَ وَ السَّبُعَ وَ مِیتَةَ السَّوْءِ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: One who gives charity during the day or night, if it is in the daytime, for the duration of one day, and if it is at night, for the duration of one night, Allah repels the collapse of walls and buildings, the wild beast, and bad death from him!

2⃣2⃣عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ یَقُولُ إِنَّ صَدَقَةَ النَّهَارِ تَمِیثُ الْخَطِیئَةَ کَمَا یَمِیثُ الْمَاءُ الْمِلْحَ وَ إِنَّ صَدَقَةَ اللَّیْلِ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ.

Amr ibn Khalid said: I heard Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) say: Indeed, daytime charity melts sins just as water dissolves salt, and nightly charity silences the wrath of the Lord!

3⃣2⃣عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَدَقَةُ السِّرِّ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: Concealed charity silences the wrath of the Lord!

4⃣2⃣عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْداللَّهِ قَالَ: صَدَقَةُ الْعَلَانِیَةِ تَدْفَعُ سَبْعِینَ نَوْعاً مِنْ أَنْوَاعِ الْبَلَاءِ وَ صَدَقَةُ السِّرِّ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Open charity repels seventy types of calamities, and concealed charity silences the wrath of the Lord!

5⃣2⃣عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا قَالَ: دَخَلَ عَلَیْهِ مَوْلًی لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ هَلْ أَنْفَقْتَ الْیَوْمَ شَیْئاً فَقَالَ لَا وَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ فَمِنْ أَیْنَ یُخْلِفُ اللَّهُ عَلَیْنَا أَنْفِقْ وَ لَوْ دِرْهَماً وَاحِداً.

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 44

Sufyan said: One of Imam Ridha's (peace be upon him) friends entered upon him. The Imam asked him: Have you given anything in charity today? He replied: No, by Allah's oath! Then the Imam said: So, from where will Allah compensates us? Give charity, even if it is just one dirham!

6⃣2⃣عَنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ لِرَجُلٍ إِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ يُثْرِيَ اللَّهُ مَالَكَ فَزَكِّهِ وَ إِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ يُصِحَّ اللَّهُ بَدَنَكَ فَأَكْثِرْ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ

Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to a man: If you want Allah to increase your wealth, give its zakat, and if you want Allah to keep your body healthy and sound, then give more charity!

7⃣2⃣عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ : مَا نَقَصَ مَالٌ مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ فَأَعْطُوا وَ لَا تَجْبُنُوا

Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: No wealth diminishes because of charity! So give, and do not fear!

8⃣2⃣عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا الَّذِي يُبَاعِدُ الشَّيْطَانَ مِنَّا قَالَ الصَّوْمُ يُسَوِّدُ وَجْهَهُ وَ الصَّدَقَةُ تَكْسِرُ ظَهْرَهُ الْخَبَرَ

Commander of the Faithful, Ali (peace be upon him), said: "It was said to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and his family: 'What repels Satan from us?' He replied: 'Fasting blackens the face of Satan, and charity breaks his back.'"

9⃣2⃣قَالَ أَمِيرُالْمُؤْمِنِينَ : الصَّدَقَةُ دَوَاءٌ مُنْجِحٌ

Ishaq ibn 'Ammar said: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: A time will come upon people when whoever asks for help will survive, and whoever remains silent will perish!

I asked: If I understand this time, what should I do? He said: Help and assist with what you have, and if you are not wealthy, then strive (or make an effort) with what is with you (or within your means). (Or support them with your face and honor)
