Prayer on the first day of the month

✅ Answer: For the first day of each lunar month, the following prayer has been narrated:

1⃣ عَنِ الْجَوَادِ علیه السلام :إِذَا دَخَلَ شَهْرٌ جَدِیدٌ فَصَلِّ أَوَّلَ یَوْمٍ مِنْهُ رَکْعَتَیْنِ تَقْرَأُ فِی الْأُولَی بَعْدَ الْحَمْدِ التَّوْحِیدَ ثَلَاثِینَ مَرَّةً وَ فِی الثَّانِیَةِ بَعْدَ الْحَمْدِ الْقَدْرَ ثَلَاثِینَ مَرَّةً ثُمَّ تَتَصَدَّقُ بِمَا تَیَسَّرَ فَتَشْتَرِی بِهِ سَلَامَةَ ذَلِکَ الشَّهْرِ کُلِّهِ.

📚 Bulugh al-Amin, p.148

Translation: It has been narrated from Imam Jawad, peace be upon him, that he said: When the new moon is sighted, perform two units of prayer on the first day, and in the first unit after Al-Hamd, recite Surah Tawhid (Say: He is Allah, the One) thirty times, and in the second unit after Al-Hamd, recite Surah Qadr (Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down [in the Night of Qadr]) thirty times. Then, give as much charity as you can afford. By doing this, you will purchase the well-being of the entire month and obtain it in return.

2⃣عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ هَمَّامِ بْنِ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْفَارِسِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الطَّبَرِيِّ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ أَبَانٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ نِعْمَ اللُّقْمَةُ الْجُبُنُّ تُعْذِبُ الْفَمَ وَ تُطَيِّبُ النَّكْهَةَ وَ تُشَهِّي الطَّعَامَ وَ مَنْ يَعْتَمِدْ أَكْلَهُ رَأْسَ الشَّهْرِ أَوْشَكَ أَنْ لَا تُرَدَّ لَهُ حَاجَةٌ.

The narrator says: I heard Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, saying: A good morsel is cheese! It sweetens the mouth, freshens the breath, and creates an appetite for food. Whoever intentionally eats it on the first day of the month is close to having none of his needs rejected!
