Question 1736: If blood or another impurity is discharged from the deceased after the ritual washing (ghusl) or shrouding (takfeen), does the washing need to be repeated?

✅ Answer: Refer to the following narrations:

📚 Al-Tahdhib, Volume 1, Page 449

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'If something becomes apparent from the deceased after the ghusl, wash only that which has appeared, and do not repeat the ghusl.'

📚 Al-Tahdhib, Volume 1, Page 449

Abdullah ibn Yahya and Hussein ibn Mokhtar said: 'We asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a deceased person from whom something is discharged after the ghusl. The Imam replied: It should be washed, and the ghusl does not need to be repeated.'

📚 Al-Kafi, Volume 3, Page 156

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'If something is discharged from the deceased after shrouding and it soils the shroud, that part of the shroud should be cut away.'

📚 Al-Kafi, Volume 3, Page 156

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'If blood or something discharges from the deceased’s nostril after the ghusl and it soils the turban or shroud, it should be trimmed with scissors.'

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, if blood or another impurity is discharged from the deceased after the ghusl, the discharged material should be washed, and the ghusl does not need to be repeated.

✅ If the blood or impurity soils the shroud, based on narrations 3⃣ and 4⃣ and others, the affected part of the shroud should be cut away.

✅ According to the book *Man La Yahdhuruh al-Faqih*, Volume 1, Page 91, and *Fiqh al-Ridha*, if something discharges from the deceased before burial in the grave, the soiled part of the shroud should be washed. However, if it occurs after burial, the soiled part is not washed but only cut away, and one layer of clothing is placed over the other.

📚 Al-Faqih, Volume 1, Page 91

✅ In any case, if blood or an impurity is discharged from the deceased after the ghusl or shrouding, the ghusl is not repeated, even if the shroud is affected.
