✅ Answer: Please refer to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 467
Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Indeed, the polytheists used to leave Arafat before sunset (towards Muzdalifah). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) opposed them and left after sunset!
📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 5, p. 186
Yunus bin Ya'qub said: I asked Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) when they would leave Arafat (towards Muzdalifah). He said: When the redness of the sunset (the redness of the horizon) goes away, and he pointed with his hand to the east, the place where the sun rises!
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 466
Yunus bin Ya'qub said: I asked Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) about the time of departure from Arafat. He said: When the redness and glow go away, meaning from the eastern side!
📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 5, p. 187
Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said about a person who leaves Arafat before sunset: If they are ignorant, nothing is upon them, but if they do it deliberately, they must sacrifice a camel!
📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 5, p. 480
Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said about someone who leaves Arafat before sunset: A camel is obligatory upon them, and if they are unable to sacrifice a camel, they must fast for eighteen days!
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 467
Dhuraysh said: I asked Imam Al-Baqir (peace be upon him) about someone who leaves Arafat before sunset. The Imam said: A camel is obligatory upon them, which should be slaughtered on the Day of Eid al-Adha. If they are unable to do so, they must fast for eighteen days either in Mecca, on the way, or when they return to their home!
✅ According to the above narrations and others, pilgrims must stay in Arafat until sunset and the redness of the eastern horizon disappears, meaning until the time of Maghrib prayer. After that, they should proceed from Arafat to Muzdalifah.
✅ According to narrations 4⃣, 5⃣, and 6⃣, if someone leaves Arafat before sunset due to ignorance, nothing is required of them. But if they deliberately leave before sunset, they must sacrifice a camel on the Day of Eid al-Adha. If they are unable to sacrifice a camel, they must fast 18 days either in Mecca, on the way, or when they return to their homeland!
