Question 1700: Can a traveler pray the full prayer at the Quba Mosque?
✅ Answer: Please refer to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 5, p. 430
Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The complete prayer is reserved for four places: the Haram of Allah, the Haram of His Messenger, the Haram of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him), and the Haram of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 524
Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him) said: My father had an opinion regarding the two Harams (Makkah and Madinah) that he did not apply to others, and he would say: Praying the full prayer in them is from the hidden matter.
📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 5, p. 426

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 586
Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: You complete the prayer in the Masjid al-Haram, Masjid al-Nabi, Masjid Kufa, and the Haram of Hussain (peace be upon him).
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 524
Hussain bin Mukhtar said: I asked Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him): When we enter Makkah and Madinah, should we pray fully or shorten it? The Imam replied: If you shorten it, it is fine, but if you pray fully, it is better that you have added goodness.
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 524
Ali bin Yaqtin said: I asked Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him) about shortening the prayer in Makkah. The Imam said: Pray it fully, and it is not obligatory unless what I love for myself, I also love for you!

📚 Al-Faqih, Vol. 2, p. 563
Abu Abbas said: I asked Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him): Did the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) declare Madinah as a Haram? He replied: Yes! A four-mile area in all four directions was declared as a Haram, and the cutting of the Ghazā trees is prohibited there.
✅ In the above narrations and others, it is evident that praying the full prayer is emphasized for travelers in Masjid al-Haram, Masjid al-Nabi, as well as in the city of Makkah and Madinah, and in the boundaries of the Haram of Makkah and Madinah, even though there are also some narrations allowing shortening the prayer.
Thus, in Masjid al-Nabi and throughout the boundaries of the city and Haram of Madinah, one can pray the full prayer.
✅ Regarding the boundaries of the Haram of Madinah, including from the shadow of Mount A'ar to the shadow of Mount W'u'ir, and also the four miles in all four directions, etc., the narrations suggest that based on all of them, Masjid Quba falls within the area where the full prayer can be performed. Therefore, it is best for the traveler to pray their prayer fully in Masjid Quba.
