1⃣عَلِیُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ جَمِیلٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: حَصَی الْجِمَارِ إِنْ أَخَذْتَهُ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ أَجْزَأَکَ وَ إِنْ أَخَذْتَهُ مِنْ غَیْرِ الْحَرَمِ لَمْ یُجْزِئْکَ قَالَ وَ قَالَ لَا تَرْمِی الْجِمَارَ إِلَّا بِالْحَصَی

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 477

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: If you collect the pebbles for the Jamarat from within the sacred boundary (Haram), it will be sufficient for you; if you collect them from outside the Haram boundary, it will not suffice.

And he said: Do not throw the Jamarat except with pebbles!

2⃣ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْحَصَی الَّتِی یُرْمَی بِهَا الْجِمَارُ فَقَالَ تُؤْخَذُ مِنْ جَمْعٍ وَ تُؤْخَذُ بَعْدَ ذَلِکَ مِنْ مِنًی.

Zurarah said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about the pebbles used for throwing the Jamarat. He said: They are collected from Muzdalifah, and after that, they are collected from Mina!

3⃣عَنْ حَنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: یَجُوزُ أَخْذُ حَصَی الْجِمَارِ مِنْ جَمِیعِ الْحَرَمِ إِلَّا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الْخَیْفِ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Collecting the pebbles for the Jamarat is permitted from anywhere within the sacred boundary, except from the Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Khaif!

4⃣عَنْ حَرِیزٍ عَمَّنْ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّه قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ مِنْ أَیْنَ یَنْبَغِی أَخْذُ حَصَی الْجِمَارِ قَالَ لَا تَأْخُذْ مِنْ مَوْضِعَیْنِ مِنْ خَارِجِ الْحَرَمِ وَ مِنْ حَصَی الْجِمَارِ وَ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَخْذِهِ مِنْ سَائِرِ الْحَرَمِ.

Hariz narrated from someone who informed him that he asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) where the pebbles for the Jamarat should be collected from. Imam said: Do not collect them from two places: outside the Haram boundary and from pebbles that have already been used for throwing the Jamarat. Collecting them from other parts of the Haram is not a problem!

5⃣عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ قَالَ: إِذَا أَخْرَجَ أَحَدُکُمُ الْحَصَاةَ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ فَلْیَرُدَّهَا مَکَانَهَا أَوْ فِی مَسْجِدٍ آخَرَ فَإِنَّهَا تُسَبِّحُ.

📚 Al-Tahdheeb, Vol. 3, p. 256

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: If any of you takes a pebble out of the mosque, it should be returned to its place or to another mosque, for it makes glorification (tasbeeh)!

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, the pebbles for the Jamarat should be collected from within the boundary of the Haram in Mecca. If they are collected from outside the Haram, it is not sufficient.

✅ According to narration 3⃣, pebbles cannot be collected from Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Khaif. It should be noted that general narrations, such as narration 5⃣, prohibit collecting pebbles from all mosques, so it is not allowed to collect pebbles from other mosques within the Haram boundary.

✅ According to narration 4⃣ and others, pebbles that have already been used for throwing the Jamarat cannot be used again for throwing the Jamarat.

✅ According to narration 2⃣, it is better or recommended to collect the pebbles from the boundary of Muzdalifah and then from Mina.

✅ It is worth mentioning that according to the narrations, Arafat is not considered part of the Haram boundary, so pebbles cannot be collected for throwing the Jamarat from the Arafat area.
