Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said in a narration: There is no issue with a person in Ihram changing or altering their clothes!

2⃣عَنْ مُعَاوِیَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِاللَّهِ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَنْ یُغَیِّرَ الْمُحْرِمُ ثِیَابَهُ وَ لَکِنْ إِذَا دَخَلَ مَکَّةَ لَبِسَ ثَوْبَیْ إِحْرَامِهِ اللَّذَیْنِ أَحْرَمَ فِیهِمَا وَ کُرِهَ أَنْ یَبِیعَهُمَا.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: There is no issue with a person in Ihram changing their clothes, but when they enter Mecca, they should wear the same two Ihram garments they wore to enter Ihram, and it is disliked to sell these two garments!

Muawiya bin Ammar said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person in Ihram wearing different garments from those in which they entered Ihram. The Imam replied: If they are clean, there is no issue!

4⃣عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِیِّ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْمُحْرِمِ یَتَرَدَّی بِالثَّوْبَیْنِ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَ الثَّلَاثَةِ إِنْ شَاءَ یَتَّقِی بِهَا الْبَرْدَ وَ الْحَرَّ.

Halabi said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person in Ihram wearing two pieces of cloth. The Imam said: Yes! Even three, if they wish to protect themselves from heat or cold!

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, a person in Ihram is allowed to change their clothes from the ones they initially used to enter Ihram, and wear other garments. However, it is recommended that when they enter Mecca, they wear the same clothes in which they entered Ihram, although this is not obligatory.

✅ Additionally, a person in Ihram can wear one or two garments besides the ones they used to enter Ihram or can start their Ihram with two or three garments.

✅ Important note: A person in Ihram who wishes to change their clothes or wear another Ihram garment over their existing one, or intends to wear two or three garments or add a new garment over the existing Ihram, must ensure that all the conditions and characteristics required for Ihram clothing are considered when selecting these new garments and additional clothing. They must fully observe the prohibitions of Ihram for any new or additional garments they wish to wear, as the rules for Ihram clothing apply to these new garments as well.
