📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 431

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when he finished Tawaf and the two Rak'ahs of Tawaf, said: I begin my approach to Safa in the way that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, began: indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 158: ‘Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah...’

2⃣عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ مُعَاوِیَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ : مَنْ بَدَأَ بِالْمَرْوَةِ قَبْلَ الصَّفَا فَلْیَطْرَحْ مَا سَعَی وَ یَبْدَأُ بِالصَّفَا قَبْلَ الْمَرْوَةِ.

📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 5, p. 151

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: If someone starts from Marwah before Safa, they must disregard the part they performed and begin from Safa before proceeding to Marwah!

3⃣عَلِیُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِیلَ بْنِ مَرَّارٍ عَنْ یُونُسَ عَنْ عَلِیٍّ الصَّائِغِ قَالَ : سُئِلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَ أَنَا حَاضِرٌ عَنْ رَجُلٍ بَدَأَ بِالْمَرْوَةِ قَبْلَ الصَّفَا قَالَ یُعِیدُ أَ لَا تَرَی أَنَّهُ لَوْ بَدَأَ بِشِمَالِهِ قَبْلَ یَمِینِهِ کَانَ عَلَیْهِ أَنْ یَبْدَأَ بِیَمِینِهِ ثُمَّ یُعِیدَ عَلَی شِمَالِهِ.

Ali ibn Saigh said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who begins Sa'i from Marwah before Safa. The Imam said: He must repeat it! Don't you see that if he (while performing Wudu) starts with the left hand before the right, he must start with the right hand and then repeat the washing of the left hand?

✅ Based on verse 158 of Surah Al-Baqarah and the above narrations, Sa'i between Safa and Marwah must begin from the mountain of Safa and end at Marwah. If someone intentionally or mistakenly begins from Marwah, they must repeat the Sa'i and start it correctly from Safa.
