Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said about a person who deliberately neglects Sa'i (between Safa and Marwah): Hajj the following year is obligatory upon him!

2⃣عَنْ مُعَاوِیَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ رَجُلٌ نَسِیَ أَنْ یَرْمِیَ الْجِمَارَ حَتَّی أَتَی مَکَّةَ قَالَ یَرْجِعُ فَیَرْمِیهَا یَفْصِلُ بَیْنَ کُلِّ رَمْیَتَیْنِ بِسَاعَةٍ قُلْتُ فَاتَهُ ذَلِکَ وَ خَرَجَ قَالَ لَیْسَ عَلَیْهِ شَیْءٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَرَجُلٌ نَسِیَ السَّعْیَ بَیْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ فَقَالَ یُعِیدُ السَّعْیَ قُلْتُ فَاتَهُ ذَلِکَ حَتَّی خَرَجَ قَالَ یَرْجِعُ فَیُعِیدُ السَّعْیَ إِنَّ هَذَا لَیْسَ کَرَمْیِ الْجِمَارِ إِنَّ الرَّمْیَ سُنَّةٌ وَ السَّعْیَ بَیْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ فَرِیضَةٌ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 484

Muawiyah ibn Ammar said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about someone who forgets the Rami (stoning) until they return to Makkah. The Imam said: He should return and perform the Rami, with one hour between each stoning. I said: He has passed away and has already left Makkah! The Imam said: (In this case) there is nothing required of him!

I said: What if someone forgets to perform Sa'i between Safa and Marwah? The Imam said: He must repeat the Sa'i. I said: He has passed away and has left Makkah! The Imam said: He should return and repeat the Sa'i. This is not like the Rami, for Rami is a Sunnah (obligatory) act, but Sa'i between Safa and Marwah is a mandatory act!

4⃣ عَنْ زَیْدٍ الشَّحَّامِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ نَسِیَ أَنْ یَطُوفَ بَیْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ حَتَّی یَرْجِعَ إِلَی أَهْلِهِ فَقَالَ یُطَافُ عَنْهُ.

Zayd al-Shahham said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who forgets to perform Sa'i between Safa and Marwah until he returns to his family. The Imam said: The Sa'i will be performed on his behalf (between Safa and Marwah)!

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, if someone deliberately neglects Sa'i between Safa and Marwah during Hajj, their Hajj is invalid, and they must perform Hajj the following year.

✅ However, if someone forgets to perform Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, they must perform it, and if they have already left, they should return to Makkah and perform it. If returning is not possible, they should appoint someone to perform Sa'i between Safa and Marwah on their behalf.
