1⃣عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ السَّرِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: مِنَ السُّنَّةِ إِذَا أَذَّنَ الرَّجُلُ أَنْ یَضَعَ إِصْبَعَیْهِ فِی أُذُنَیْهِ.

📚 *Al-Faqih, Vol. 1, p. 284*: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The tradition when a person says the adhan is to place both of your index fingers in both of your ears!

📚 *Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 284*: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: It is a tradition to place your index fingers in your ears during the adhan!

2⃣عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنِ اَلْحَسَنِ بْنِ اَلسَّرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ: اَلسُّنَّةُ أَنْ تَضَعَ إِصْبَعَيْكَ فِي أُذُنَيْكَ فِي اَلْأَذَانِ

📚 *Al-Bihar, Vol. 42, p. 279*: Abu al-Hasan Bakri narrated in a long report about the testimony of Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) from Abumakhnaf and others that Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) moved until he entered the mosque, while the light of the mosque’s lanterns had gone out. He then prayed his night prayer in the mosque, recited some supplications, and then got up, prayed two rak'ahs, climbed the minaret, placed his index fingers in his ears, straightened his chest, and called the adhan. When he called the adhan, no house in Kufa remained without his voice reaching it!

✅ It is clear from the above narrations that placing the index fingers in the ears during the adhan is a tradition and not obligatory.

3⃣ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَكْرِيِّ عَنْ لُوطِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَشْيَاخِهِ وَ أَسْلَافِهِ : فِي خَبَرٍ طَوِيلٍ فِي كَيْفِيَّةِ شَهَادَةِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِلَى أَنْ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو مِخْنَفٍ وَ غَيْرُهُ وَ سَارَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَتَّى دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ وَ الْقَنَادِيلُ قَدْ خَمَدَ ضَوْؤُهَا فَصَلَّى فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وِرْدَهُ وَ عَقَّبَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ قَامَ وَ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ عَلَا الْمِأْذَنَةَ وَ وَضَعَ سَبَّابَتَيْهِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ وَ تَنَحْنَحَ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ وَ كَانَ إِذَا أَذَّنَ لَمْ يَبْقَ فِي بَلْدَةِ الْكُوفَةِ بَيْتٌ إِلَّا اخْتَرَقَهُ صَوْتُهُ الْخَبَرَ
