✅ Answer: Pay attention to the following narrations:

1 عَنْ مُعَاوِیَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَنْ یُقْضَی الْمَنَاسِکُ کُلُّهَا عَلَی غَیْرِ وُضُوءٍ إِلَّا الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَیْتِ وَ الْوُضُوءُ أَفْضَلُ.

📚 Al-Faqih, Vol. 2, p. 399

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: There is no issue with performing all the rituals of Hajj without wudu, except for the tawaf of the Kaaba, and having wudu (for the other rituals) is preferable!

2 عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ رَزِینٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَحَدَهُمَا عَنْ رَجُلٍ طَافَ طَوَافَ الْفَرِیضَةِ وَ هُوَ عَلَی غَیْرِ طَهُورٍ قَالَ یَتَوَضَّأُ وَ یُعِیدُ طَوَافَهُ وَ إِنْ کَانَ تَطَوُّعاً تَوَضَّأَ وَ صَلَّی رَکْعَتَیْنِ.

Muhammad ibn Muslim said: I asked Imam Baqir or Imam Sadiq (peace be upon them) about a person who performs the obligatory tawaf without wudu. The Imam said: He must perform wudu and repeat the tawaf, and if it is a voluntary (non-obligatory) tawaf, he performs wudu and prays the two rak'ahs of the tawaf prayer!

3 عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِیَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ أَبِی حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ أَ یَنْسُکُ الْمَنَاسِکَ وَ هُوَ عَلَی غَیْرِ وُضُوءٍ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ إِلَّا الطَّوَافَ بِالْبَیْتِ فَإِنَّ فِیهِ صَلَاةً.

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) was asked: Can a person perform the rituals of Hajj without wudu? The Imam said: Yes! Except for the tawaf of the Kaaba, because it includes prayer!

4 عَنْ الْفَضْلِ الْوَاسِطِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: إِذَا طَافَ الرَّجُلُ بِالْبَیْتِ وَ هُوَ عَلَی غَیْرِ وُضُوءٍ فَلَا یَعْتَدُّ بِذَلِکَ الطَّوَافِ وَ هُوَ کَمَنْ لَمْ یَطُفْ.

Imam Abu al-Hasan (peace be upon him) said: If a person performs the obligatory tawaf without wudu, that tawaf does not count, and it is as if he has not performed the tawaf!

5 عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُکَیْرٍ عَنْ عُبَیْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ إِنِّی أَطُوفُ طَوَافَ النَّافِلَةِ وَ أَنَا عَلَی غَیْرِ وُضُوءٍ قَالَ تَوَضَّأْ وَ صَلِّ وَ إِنْ کُنْتَ مُتَعَمِّداً.

Ubayd ibn Zurara said: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): I perform voluntary tawaf without wudu! The Imam said: Perform wudu and pray the tawaf prayer, even if you intentionally performed the voluntary tawaf without wudu!

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, wudu is not a condition for any of the Hajj rituals except for the obligatory tawaf, which must be performed with wudu. If the obligatory tawaf is performed without wudu, it must be repeated.

For other Hajj rituals, having wudu is preferable, but there is no issue if performed without wudu.

✅ However, voluntary tawaf can be performed even intentionally without wudu, and wudu is only required when performing the tawaf prayer.
