Ishaq ibn Ammar said: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: O Ishaq! Whoever performs one tawaf around this House (the Kaaba), Allah writes for him a thousand good deeds, erases a thousand sins, raises him a thousand degrees, plants a thousand trees for him in Paradise, and grants him the reward of freeing a thousand slaves. When he reaches the Multazam (behind the Kaaba), Allah opens the eight gates of Paradise for him and says: Enter through whichever you wish! Ishaq said: I said to the Imam: May I be your ransom! Is all this for someone who performs tawaf?! The Imam said: Yes! Shall I inform you of something even better than this?! I said: Yes! He said: Whoever fulfills a need for his believing brother, Allah writes for him one tawaf, and another, up to ten tawafs!

Mashma’al Asadi said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): I performed Hajj! The Imam said: Do you know the reward for the one who performs Hajj? He said: No! The Imam said: When a servant performs seven circuits around this House, prays two rak'ahs (of tawaf prayer), and performs the Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, Allah writes for him 6,000 good deeds, erases 6,000 sins, raises him 6,000 degrees, and fulfills 6,000 needs, some for this world and some stored for the Hereafter! Mashma’al Asadi said: I said: May I be your ransom! This reward is immense! The Imam said: Shall I inform you of something with even greater reward?! I said: Yes! He said: Fulfilling one need of a believer is better than one Hajj, and another, and another, until the Imam counted ten Hajjs!

Safwan said: I was sitting with Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) when a man from Mecca, called Maymun, entered and complained to him about the difficulty of paying the fare (for transportation). The Imam said to me: Get up and help your brother! I went with him, and by Allah’s will, the issue of his fare was resolved, and I returned to my place (with the Imam). The Imam said: What did you do about your brother’s need?! I said: May my parents be your ransom! Allah fulfilled it! The Imam then said unprompted: Know that helping your Muslim brother is more beloved to me than seven circuits of tawaf around the Kaaba!
