Answer

✅ Answer: In the book 'Makarim al-Akhlaq' by Tabarsi, p. 334, a four-rak'ah prayer with specific rituals is narrated as a prayer from a father for his child, and a two-rak'ah prayer with specific rituals is narrated as a prayer from a child for his father and mother. Unfortunately, these narrations are not linked to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and it is not clear whether they were narrations from an infallible one or not, and if they were narrations, it is not clear whether they were from the general populace (A'ammah) or from the Shia (Khasseh)!

Therefore, this prayer cannot be considered an actionable narration and has no narrative value.

✅ However, for offering prayers as a gift to parents, one can use the following specific narration and other general narrations:

📚 Wasail al-Shia, Vol. 2, p. 445, quoting from Al-Tahdhib

Umar ibn Yazid said: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) would pray two rak'ahs every night on behalf of his son and two rak'ahs every day on behalf of his father and mother!

I said to the Imam: May I be sacrificed for you! Why is it for the son at night? The Imam said: Because the bedding is related to the son!

✅ Meaning, in the first rak'ah, after Al-Fatiha, he would recite Surah Al-Qadr, and in the second rak'ah, after Al-Fatiha, he would recite Surah Al-Kawthar.

📚 Al-Faqih, Vol. 1, p. 116

Umar ibn Yazid said: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): 'Can one pray on behalf of a deceased person?' He said: 'Yes, to the extent that if he is in distress, it will be eased for him, and then it will come to him and it will be said that this distress was lightened for you because of the prayer of your brother!'

The narrator said: I said: 'Can I include two people in a two-rak'ah prayer?' He said: 'Yes!'

And the Imam said: 'Indeed, the deceased person becomes happy and joyful with the mercy and forgiveness sent to him, just as a living person becomes happy and joyful with a gift that is sent to him!'

✅ Therefore, to offer a prayer as a gift to parents, one can, according to narration 1, offer them a two-rak'ah prayer every day, in which Surah Al-Qadr is recited after Al-Fatiha in the first rak'ah and Surah Al-Kawthar is recited after Al-Fatiha in the second rak'ah. And also, according to narration 2 and many other narrations, a prayer or other good deeds can be performed on their behalf, which will certainly reach them and cause them joy and happiness and free them from distress.

✅ Pray more for the hastening of the return of Imam Zaman (peace be upon him).
