1 عَنْ جَابِرٍ الْجُعْفِيِّ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ فِي يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ لِي هَؤُلَاءِ زُوَّارُ اللَّهِ وَ حَقٌّ عَلَى الْمَزُورِ أَنْ يُكْرِمَ الزَّائِرَ مَنْ بَاتَ عِنْدَ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ لَيْلَةَ عَاشُورَاءَ لَقِيَ اللَّهَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مُلَطَّخاً بِدَمِهِ كَأَنَّمَا قُتِلَ مَعَهُ فِي عَرْصَتِهِ وَ قَالَ مَنْ زَارَ قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ وَ[أَوْ] بَاتَ عِنْدَهُ كَانَ كَمَنِ اسْتُشْهِدَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ

Jabir said: I entered upon Imam Sadiq (prayers of God be upon him) on the day of Ashura. The Imam said to me: 'These are the guests of God, and it is the right of the host to honor the guest. Whoever spends the night of Ashura with Imam Hussein (prayers of God be upon him), he will meet God on the Day of Judgment stained with his blood, as if he was martyred with him on the battlefield.' And he said: 'Whoever visits the grave of Hussein (prayers of God be upon him) on the day of Ashura or spends the night with him until morning is like one who was martyred in front of him!'

2 عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ مَنْ زَارَ الْحُسَيْنَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ

Imam Sadiq (prayers of God be upon him) said: 'Whoever visits Imam Hussein (prayers of God be upon him) on the day of Ashura, Paradise becomes obligatory for him!'

3 عَنْ زَيْدٍ الشَّحَّامِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ مَنْ زَارَ قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ عَارِفاً بِحَقِّهِ كَانَ كَمَنْ زَارَ اللَّهَ فِي عَرْشِهِ

Imam Sadiq (prayers of God be upon him) said: 'Whoever visits the grave of Hussein ibn Ali (prayers of God be upon him) on the day of Ashura while being aware of his right, is like one who has visited God on His Throne!'

4 عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُمْهُورٍ الْعَمِّيِّ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْهُمْ قَالَ مَنْ زَارَ قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ كَانَ كَمَنْ تَشَحَّطَ بِدَمِهِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ

A person narrated from the Imams (peace be upon them) that they said: 'Whoever visits the grave of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) on the day of Ashura is like one who was wallowing in his own blood in front of him!'

5 عَنْ مَالِكٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْبَاقِرِ قَالَ مَنْ زَارَ الْحُسَيْنَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ حَتَّى يَظَلَّ عِنْدَهُ بَاكِياً لَقِيَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِثَوَابِ أَلْفَيْ أَلْفِ حَجَّةٍ وَ أَلْفَيْ أَلْفِ عُمْرَةٍ وَ أَلْفَيْ أَلْفِ غَزْوَةٍ وَ ثَوَابُ كُلِّ حَجَّةٍ وَ عُمْرَةٍ وَ غَزْوَةٍ كَثَوَابِ مَنْ حَجَّ وَ اعْتَمَرَ وَ غَزَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَ مَعَ الْأَئِمَّةِ الرَّاشِدِينَ الْحَدِيثَ

Imam Baqir (prayers of God be upon him) said: 'Whoever visits Imam Hussein (prayers of God be upon him) on the day of Ashura and spends the day with him weeping, he will meet God, the Almighty and Glorious, on the Day of Judgment with the reward of two million pilgrimages (Hajj) and two million Umrahs and two million military expeditions (ghazwahs), and the reward of each Hajj, Umrah, and ghazwah is like the reward of one who performed Hajj and Umrah and fought alongside the Messenger of God (prayers of God be upon him and his family) and the rightly guided Imams (peace be upon them)!'

Imam Reza (prayers of God be upon him) said in a hadith:

'O son of Shabib! Muharram is a month in which the people of ignorance in the past forbade injustice and war due to its sanctity, but this nation did not respect the sanctity of the month nor the sanctity of their Prophet! Indeed, they killed his progeny in this month and took his women captive and plundered his possessions. May God never forgive them for this!'
