✅ Answer: Consider the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 5, p. 227
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) prohibited the buying and selling of monkeys!
📚 Al-Ja’fariyat, p. 180
Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) said: Among the forbidden earnings is the price of a carcass... and he continued until he said: and the price of a monkey!
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 6, p. 245
Halabi says: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about eating lizards; the Imam said: Indeed, lizards, mice, monkeys, and pigs are among the metamorphosed creatures!
✅ Based on the above narrations and others, monkeys are among the metamorphosed creatures, and their buying and selling is prohibited, and their price is considered ill-gotten and forbidden!
✅ Keeping a monkey at home is not found in the traditions of any of the Infallibles (peace be upon them), and according to what is narrated in 📚 Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 33, p. 211 and 📚 Sharh Nahj al-Balagha by Ibn Abi al-Hadid, Vol. 15, p. 177, keeping a monkey and playing with it was among the actions of Yazid ibn Mu’awiya (may Allah curse him), and therefore, keeping a monkey at home is not befitting for the lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
