Question 1495: What is the ruling for someone who forgets the Dhuhr prayer until they have prayed the Asr prayer, and then remembers that they haven't prayed Dhuhr?
Answer
✅ Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 3, p. 291
Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said in a hadith: If you forgot the Dhuhr prayer until you prayed the Asr prayer, and you remember during the Asr prayer or after finishing the Asr prayer, intend it as the Dhuhr prayer and then pray the Asr prayer after it, because these four rak'ahs are in place of those four rak'ahs!
And if you remember that you have not prayed Dhuhr and you are in the middle of the Asr prayer and have prayed two rak'ahs of it, intend it as the Dhuhr prayer and then pray the remaining two rak'ahs and then stand up and pray the Asr prayer!

Halabi said: I asked the Imam (peace be upon him) about a person who forgets to pray the Dhuhr prayer until he prays the Asr prayer; the Imam said: Let him consider the prayer he has prayed as the Dhuhr prayer and then pray the Asr prayer from the beginning!

Hassan ibn Ziyad said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who forgets the Dhuhr prayer until he has prayed two rak'ahs of the Asr prayer; the Imam said: Let him consider this as the Dhuhr prayer and begin the Asr prayer from the start!

Halabi said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who leads a group in the Asr prayer and during the prayer remembers that he has not prayed the Dhuhr prayer; the Imam said: Let him consider it the Dhuhr prayer that he missed, and after that, let him begin the Asr prayer from the beginning, and the prayer of that group has also passed and is correct!
✅ Based on the above narrations, if someone forgets the Dhuhr prayer until he enters the Asr prayer and remembers during the Asr prayer that he has not prayed Dhuhr, he should change his intention to the Dhuhr prayer and consider that prayer as the Dhuhr prayer, and he should pray the Asr prayer after it.
Also, if he remembers after finishing the Asr prayer that he has not prayed Dhuhr, he should consider the prayer he has prayed as the Dhuhr prayer and pray the Asr prayer from the beginning.
✅ We thank God that these rulings have been made clear to us through the infallible Imams (peace be upon them),
We always say with humility:
Condolences on the martyrdom of Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him)

Abu Basir said: I went to Umm Hamida to offer my condolences on the death of Abi Abdullah (Imam Sadiq) (peace be upon him), she cried and I also cried because of her crying.
Then she said: O Abu Muhammad, if you had seen Abu Abdullah (peace be upon him) at the time of his death,
you would have witnessed a strange thing,
He opened his eyes and said: Gather everyone who has kinship and relation to me. So we gathered everyone.
He looked at them and said:
Indeed, our intercession will not reach anyone who takes prayer lightly.
