عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ مُتْعَةِ النِّسَاءِ قَالَ حَلَالٌ وَ إِنَّهُ يُجْزِي فِيهِ الدِّرْهَمُ فَمَا فَوْقَهُ.

📚 Al-Kafi, vol.5, p.457

Translation: Abu Basir said: I asked Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) about mut‘ah with women; the Imam replied: It is permissible, and for the mahr, anything from one dirham and above is sufficient.

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْأَحْوَلِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَدْنَى مَا يُتَزَوَّجُ بِهِ الْمُتْعَةُ قَالَ كَفٌّ مِنْ بُرٍّ.

Translation: Ahwal said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): What is the minimum amount for which a temporary marriage can be valid? He replied: One handful of wheat.

عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ كَمِ الْمَهْرُ يَعْنِي فِي الْمُتْعَةِ قَالَ مَا تَرَاضَيَا عَلَيْهِ إِلَى مَا شَاءَا مِنَ الْأَجَلِ.

Translation: Muhammad ibn Muslim said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about the mahr in mut‘ah; he replied: Whatever they mutually agree upon and are satisfied with, and for any duration they both desire and agree upon.

عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: يُشَارِطُهَا مَا شَاءَ مِنَ الْأَيَّامِ

Translation: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said regarding temporary marriage: The husband may stipulate any number of days he wishes with that woman.

عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَدْنَى مَهْرِ الْمُتْعَةِ مَا هُوَ قَالَ كَفٌّ مِنْ طَعَامٍ دَقِيقٍ أَوْ سَوِيقٍ أَوْ تَمْرٍ.

Translation: Abu Basir said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about the minimum mahr for mut‘ah; he replied: One handful of food, whether flour, roasted grain, or dates.

✅As is clear from the above narrations, there is no fixed minimum for the mahr or compensation in temporary marriage; any amount mutually agreed upon is permissible, as well as any duration—days, months, or years—that both parties consent to.
