📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 4, p. 126
'Ubayd said: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): 'What is the meaning of the words of Allah (the Exalted and Glorious) (in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 185) which say: 'So whoever is present (in his hometown) during this month, he must fast it'?' The Imam said: 'How clear that is! Whoever is present and in his hometown fasts it, and whoever travels does not fast it!'
📚 Faqih, vol. 2, p. 139
Halabi said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about a person who is a resident when the month of Ramadan begins and he does not intend to travel. Then, after the month of Ramadan has started, he decides to travel. The Imam was silent, and I asked him several times! The Imam said: 'If he stays in his city, it is better, unless he has a need for which he must travel, or he fears for his wealth!'
📚 Faqih, vol. 2, p. 139
Imam Baqir (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked about a person who is a resident when Ramadan begins, and a few days have passed, and a journey comes up for him. The Imam said: 'There is no problem for him to travel and to break his fast and not fast!'
📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 4, p. 126
Abu Basir said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about traveling after the month of Ramadan has begun. The Imam said: 'No! Except in what I will tell you: a journey to Mecca, or a jihad in the way of Allah, or for wealth that you fear will be destroyed, or a brother whom you intend to bid farewell, and this brother is not a blood relative!'
📚 Al-Khisal, p. 614
Imam 'Ali (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'It is not for a servant to travel when the month of Ramadan arrives, because of the divine words that say: 'So whoever among you is present during the month of Ramadan must fast it'!'
📚 Tahdhib, vol. 4, p. 216
Imam Sadiq (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'When the month of Ramadan begins, there is a condition for Allah in it! Allah Almighty says: 'Whoever among you is present during the month of Ramadan must fast it!' So when the month of Ramadan arrives, a person cannot travel except for Hajj or 'umrah, or for wealth that he fears will be destroyed, or a brother whose destruction he fears. And it is not for him to travel for the destruction of his brother's wealth. So when the night of the twenty-third of Ramadan has passed, he can go out to wherever he wants!'
✅ According to the above narrations and others, when the month of Ramadan arrives, it is forbidden and disliked to travel except for the cases that have been permitted in the above narrations and others, although a general permission for it has also been reported. And this prohibition is lifted after the night of the 23rd of Ramadan has passed.
