1 عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ آبَائِهِ فِی وَصِیَّةِ النَّبِیِّ لِعَلِیٍّ قَالَ : یَا عَلِیُّ تِسْعَةُ أَشْیَاءَ تُورِثُ النِّسْیَانَ أَکْلُ التُّفَّاحِ الْحَامِضِ وَ أَکْلُ الْکُزْبُرَةِ وَ الْجُبُنِّ وَ سُؤْرِ الْفَأْرِ وَ قِرَاءَةُ کِتَابَةِ الْقُبُورِ وَ الْمَشْیُ بَیْنَ امْرَأَتَیْنِ وَ طَرْحُ الْقَمْلَةِ وَ الْحِجَامَةُ فِی النُّقْرَةِ وَ الْبَوْلُ فِی الْمَاءِ الرَّاکِدِ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) narrated from his ancestors that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said in his will to Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him): 'O Ali! Nine things cause amnesia and forgetfulness:
Eating unripe apples
And eating coriander, cheese, and a mouse's leftover food
And reading the writings on graves
Walking between two women
And throwing a louse away (from the body or clothes)
And performing cupping on the nape of the neck
And urinating in stagnant water!'
2 عَنْ عِدَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَمَّنْ ذَکَرَهُ عَنْ أَیُّوبَ بْنِ الْحُرِّ عَنْ أَبِی حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا قَصُّوا الْأَظْفَارَ لِأَنَّهَا مَقِیلُ الشَّیْطَانِ وَ مِنْهُ یَکُونُ النِّسْیَانُ.

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'Trim your nails, for they are the abode of Satan, and amnesia and forgetfulness come from not doing so!'
3 الرِّسَالَةُ الذَّهَبِيَّةُ وَ الْمُذَهَّبَةُ، لِأَبِي الْحَسَنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوسَى الرِّضَا : ... وَ الْإِكْثَارُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْوَحْشِ وَ الْبَقَرِ يُورِثُ تَغْيِيرَ الْعَقْلِ وَ تَحَيُّرَ الْفَهْمِ وَ تَبَلُّدَ الذِّهْنِ وَ كَثْرَةَ النِّسْيَانِ
📚 Al-Risalah al-Dhahabiyyah, p. 29.
Imam Reza (peace be upon him) said in Al-Risalah al-Dhahabiyyah: 'Eating a lot of wild animal meat and beef causes a change in the mind, a scattering of understanding, slow-wittedness, and a lot of forgetfulness!'
4 مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ قَالَ: أَتَی أَعْرَابِیٌّ إِلَی النَّبِیِّ فَقَالَ یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّی کُنْتُ ذَکُوراً وَ إِنِّی صِرْتُ نَسِیّاً فَقَالَ أَ کُنْتَ تَقِیلُ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَ تَرَکْتَ ذَلِکَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ عُدْ فَعَادَ فَرَجَعَ إِلَیْهِ ذِهْنُهُ.

Shaykh Saduq said: 'A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I used to have a good memory, but I have become forgetful!' The Prophet said: 'Did you used to take a midday nap (qaylulah)?' He said: 'Yes! But I have stopped!' The Prophet said: 'Go back to taking a midday nap,' so he went back and his mind and intelligence returned to him!'
