Answer
Purity
✅ Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 17
Ibrahim ibn Abi Mahmud said: 'I heard Imam Ridha (peace be upon him) say: 'Whatever of the feces is visible and apparent on the anus ring is to be removed and washed, and the finger should not be inserted inside!''
📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 1, p. 45
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said in a hadith: 'If only something comes out of the anus but he does not urinate, it is his duty to wash only the anus and he does not wash the private part,' and he said: 'It is his duty to wash what is apparent and visible from the anus, and it is not his duty to wash its inner and hidden part!'
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 18
Ammar said: 'I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): 'A person wants to perform istinja' (i.e., to wash the place of feces and remove the feces), how should he sit?' The Imam said: 'The same way he sits for defecating!'
And he said: 'Indeed, it is his duty to wash what is apparent and visible from it, and it is not his duty to wash its inner and hidden part!'
✅ Based on the above narrations and others, for washing the place of feces, whatever of the feces is apparent and visible on the outer part of the anus ring is washed, and what is hidden and inside and can only be washed by inserting a finger, there is no need to wash it.
Therefore, to perform istinja', we sit in the same way as we sit for defecating (i.e., on the heels) and wash those parts of the anus that are visible and apparent in such a state, and those parts that are not apparent and are hidden in this state of sitting, there is no need to wash them.
