✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:

1 عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ شَیْئَانِ صَالِحَانِ لَمْ یَدْخُلَا جَوْفَ وَاحِدٍ قَطُّ فَاسِداً إِلَّا أَصْلَحَاهُ وَ شَیْئَانِ فَاسِدَانِ لَمْ یَدْخُلَا جَوْفاً قَطُّ صَالِحاً إِلَّا أَفْسَدَاهُ فَالصَّالِحَانِ الرُّمَّانُ وَ الْمَاءُ الْفَاتِرُ وَ الْفَاسِدَانِ الْجُبُنُّ وَ الْقَدِیدُ.

Imam Sadiq (prayers of God be upon him) said: 'Two things are good and righteous; they do not enter a broken body without mending it, and two things are corrupted; they never enter a healthy body without corrupting it! The two good and righteous things are pomegranates and settled boiled water, and the two corrupted things are cheese and dried meat!'

2 عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِیزِ الْعَبْدِیِّ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِاللَّهِ الْجُبُنُّ وَ الْجَوْزُ إِذَا اجْتَمَعَا فِی کُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا شِفَاءٌ وَ إِنِ افْتَرَقَا کَانَ فِی کُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا دَاءٌ.

Imam Sadiq (prayers of God be upon him) said: 'If cheese and walnuts are combined, there will be a cure in each of them, and if they are separated, there will be a disease in each of them!'

3 عَنْ عُبَیْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: إِنَّ الْجَوْزَ وَ الْجُبُنَّ إِذَا اجْتَمَعَا کَانَا دَوَاءً وَ إِذَا افْتَرَقَا کَانَا دَاءً.

Imam Sadiq (prayers of God be upon him) said: 'Indeed, cheese and walnuts, if they are combined, are a medicine, and if they are separated, they are a disease!'

4 عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ النَّیْسَابُورِیِّ عَنْ بَعْضِ رِجَالِهِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: سَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنِ الْجُبُنِّ فَقَالَ دَاءٌ لَا دَوَاءَ فِیهِ فَلَمَّا کَانَ بِالْعَشِیِّ دَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَی أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَنَظَرَ إِلَی الْجُبُنِّ عَلَی الْخِوَانِ فَقَالَ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاکَ سَأَلْتُکَ بِالْغَدَاةِ عَنِ الْجُبُنِّ فَقُلْتَ لِی إِنَّهُ هُوَ الدَّاءُ الَّذِی لَا دَوَاءَ لَهُ وَ السَّاعَةَ أَرَاهُ عَلَی الْخِوَانِ قَالَ فَقَالَ لِی هُوَ ضَارٌّ بِالْغَدَاةِ نَافِعٌ بِالْعَشِیِّ وَ یَزِیدُ فِی مَاءِ الظَّهْرِ.

A man asked Imam Sadiq (prayers of God be upon him) about cheese. The Imam said: 'It is a disease for which there is no cure!' Then, when it was night, the man came to Imam Sadiq (prayers of God be upon him) and saw cheese on the dining cloth! So he said: 'May I be sacrificed for you! This morning I asked you about cheese and you said it is a disease for which there is no cure, and now I see it on the dining cloth!' The man said: The Imam said to me: 'Indeed, cheese is harmful in the morning and beneficial at night and it increases the back water (semen)!'

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, eating cheese is harmful to the body in two cases:

1 Eating it in the morning and during the day

2 Eating it alone and without walnuts

✅ The Imam's (peace be upon him) solution to ward off the harm of cheese is that it should either be consumed at night or eaten with walnuts so that, in addition to warding off its harm, it is beneficial and a cure.

✅ Eating walnuts alone and without cheese is also considered a disease, and it is recommended to always consume them with cheese to ward off their harm.

✅ Of course, some have understood from the above narrations that to avoid the harm of cheese, it should only be consumed at night and only with walnuts, which, although more limited than the previous understanding, is not without merit. Of course, in this case, eating walnuts during the day would also be restricted!

✅ The people most worthy of acting on such narrations are the Shi'a and the lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them)! But unfortunately, cheese, usually without walnuts, is a special breakfast food for many people, and sometimes they even mock eating it at night, which is a recommendation of the infallible Imam, considering it a strange thing to do!

✅ Whenever we examine any small or large part of the components of religion and the world, we realize that we are in great need to always say:

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَجِّلْ لِوَلِیِّکَ الْفَرَجَ وَ الْعَافِیَةَ وَ النَّصْر
