Question 1395 - What is the ruling on the prayer of a woman who is disobedient and quarrelsome toward her husband?

1 عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ یَحْیَی وَ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِدْرِیسَ جَمِیعاً عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا رَفَعَهُ إِلَی أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ثَمَانِیَةٌ لَا یُقْبَلُ لَهُمْ صَلَاةٌ الْعَبْدُ الْآبِقُ حَتَّی یَرْجِعَ إِلَی سَیِّدِهِ وَ النَّاشِزُ عَنْ زَوْجِهَا وَ هُوَ عَلَیْهَا سَاخِطٌ وَ مَانِعُ الزَّکَاةِ وَ تَارِکُ الْوُضُوءِ وَ الْجَارِیَةُ الْمُدْرِکَةُ تُصَلِّی بِغَیْرِ خِمَارٍ وَ إِمَامُ قَوْمٍ یُصَلِّی بِهِمْ وَ هُمْ لَهُ کَارِهُونَ وَ الزِّنِّینُ فَقِیلَ یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَ مَا الزِّنِّینُ قَالَ الرَّجُلُ یُدَافِعُ الْبَوْلَ وَ الْغَائِطَ وَ السَّکْرَانُ فَهَؤُلَاءِ الثَّمَانِیَةُ لَا یَقْبَلُ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ صَلَاةً.

Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: There are eight types of people whose prayers are not accepted:
1. A runaway slave until he returns to his master.
2. A disobedient and quarrelsome wife while her husband is angry with her.
3. A person who obstructs the giving of zakat.
4. A person who abandons ablution.
5. A girl who has reached puberty and prays without covering her head.
6. A congregational prayer leader (imam) whose congregation dislikes him.
7. 'Zanin'—When asked, 'O Messenger of Allah! Who is Zanin?' He said: One who holds back urine or stool.
8. An intoxicated person.
Thus, the prayers of these eight categories are not accepted.
✅ A 'nashizah' is a woman who disobeys and quarrels with her husband and neglects her religious duties toward him. According to the above narration and others, the prayer of such a woman is not accepted by Allah.
✅ Insha’Allah, believing women should strive to fulfill their duties toward their husbands so that it does not lead to nushuz (disobedience) and, consequently, non-acceptance of their prayers.
