📚 Al-Mahasin, Vol. 2, p. 535
Translation: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: 'The first thing a woman who has just given birth should eat is fresh dates. Indeed, Allah said to Maryam: 'Shake the trunk of the palm tree towards you, and fresh dates will fall upon you.' It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what if it's not the season for fresh dates?' He said: 'She should eat seven dates from Medina. And if that's not available, she should eat seven dates from the dates of her own town. Then Allah Almighty and Glorious says: 'I swear by My honor, My glory, My greatness, and the loftiness of My place, no woman who has just given birth eats it on the day her child is born, except that if the child is a boy, he will be forbearing, and if she is a girl, she will be forbearing.'
