Performing a sacrifice jointly

Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:

1 عَنْ یُونُسَ بْنِ یَعْقُوبَ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْبَقَرَةِ یُضَحَّی بِهَا فَقَالَ تُجْزِئُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ.

Yunus said: 'I asked Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, about a cow that is sacrificed on Eid al-Adha; he said: 'It is sufficient for seven people!''

2 عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْحَلَبِیِّ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّه عَنِ النَّفَرِ أَتُجْزِیهِمُ الْبَقَرَةُ قَالَ أَمَّا فِی الْهَدْیِ فَلَا وَ أَمَّا فِی الْأَضْحَی فَنَعَمْ.

Halabi said: 'I asked Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, about a group (three to ten people) if a cow is sufficient for them?' He said: 'No for the sacrifice in Mecca, but yes for Eid al-Adha!''

3 عَنِ الْحَلَبِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: تُجْزِئُ الْبَقَرَةُ وَ الْبَدَنَةُ فِی الْأَمْصَارِ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَ لَا تُجْزِئُ بِمِنًی إِلَّا عَنْ وَاحِدٍ.

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: 'A cow and a camel in the cities are sufficient for seven people, but in Mina, it is only sufficient for one person!''

4 عَنْ أَبِی بَصِیرٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّه قَالَ: الْبَدَنَةُ وَ الْبَقَرَةُ تُجْزِئُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ إِذَا اجْتَمَعُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ بَیْتٍ وَاحِدٍ وَ مِنْ غَیْرِهِمْ.

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: 'A camel and a cow for sacrifice are sufficient for seven people who gather from one family and others (for Eid al-Adha)!''

5 عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: الْکَبْشُ یُجْزِئُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ وَ عَنْ أَهْلِ بَیْتِهِ یُضَحِّی بِهِ.

Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, said: 'One ram is sufficient for a man and his family for him to sacrifice it!''

6 قَالَ وَ رُوِیَ أَنَّ الْجَزُورَ یُجْزِئُ عَنْ عَشَرَةِ نَفَرٍ مُتَفَرِّقِینَ وَ إِذَا عَزَّتِ الْأَضَاحِیُّ أَجْزَأَتْ شَاةٌ عَنْ سَبْعِینَ.

Shaykh Saduq said: 'It has been narrated that a camel is sufficient for ten separate people, and when the sacrifice is scarce, one sheep is sufficient for seventy people!'
