The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) saw a camel with its knees tied and its saddle on it! So he said: 'Where is its owner?! Order him to prepare himself for a dispute tomorrow (i.e., the Day of Judgment)!'

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) narrated from his ancestors that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: 'A riding animal has several rights upon its owner: when he dismounts, he should start with its fodder, and when he passes by water, he should offer it to it, and he should not hit its face because it glorifies its Lord with His praise, and he should not stop on its back except in the way of Allah, and he should not burden it with more than it can bear, and he should not force it to walk more than it can endure!'

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: 'Do not hit the face of a riding animal and anything that has a soul, for it glorifies Allah with His praise!'

7 إبراهیم بن عَلِیٍّ عن أَبِیه قال: حَجَجْتُ مَعَ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْن فَالْتَاثَتْ عَلَیْهِ النَّاقَةُ فی سَیْرِهَا فَأَشَارَ إِلَیْهَا بِالْقَضِیبِ ثُمَّ قَالَ آهِ لَوْ لَا الْقِصَاصُ وَ رَدَّ یَدَهُ عَنْهَا

A person said: 'I performed Hajj with Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him), and the camel was slow in its movement. The Imam pointed at it with a stick and said: 'Ah! If there were no retribution!' and he pulled his hand away from it!'

8 From Abi 'Abdillah (peace be upon him), he said: 'There was an old man, a pious ascetic, who worshipped Allah in the Children of Israel. While he was praying and in his worship, he suddenly saw two young boys who had taken a rooster and were plucking its feathers! This worshipper turned back to his worship and did not forbid them from that! So Allah revealed to the earth to swallow up this servant of Mine! So the earth swallowed him up, and he is always and forever falling headlong into a whirlpool!'
