1️⃣Muhammad ibn Muslim said: 'I asked Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) about a person who wears new clothes.' He said: 'He should say:

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ ثَوْبَ يُمْنٍ وَ تُقًى وَ بَرَكَةٍ اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي فِيهِ حُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ وَ عَمَلًا بِطَاعَتِكَ وَ أَدَاءَ شُكْرِ نِعْمَتِكَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي مَا أُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي وَ أَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ.

2️⃣Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'The Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) taught me what to say when I want to wear new clothes:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي مِنَ اللِّبَاسِ مَا أَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهَا ثِيَابَ بَرَكَةٍ أَسْعَى فِيهَا لِمَرْضَاتِكَ وَ أَعْمُرُ فِيهَا مَسَاجِدَكَ

And he said: 'O Ali! Whoever says this supplication will not wear that garment until he is forgiven!''

3️⃣Khalid said: 'I heard Imam Kadhim (peace be upon him) say: 'Indeed, it is proper for one of you that when he wears new clothes, he should run his hand over it and say:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي مَا أُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي وَ أَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ وَ أَتَزَيَّنُ بِهِ بَيْنَهُمْ.

4️⃣In a hadith, Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said to Umar ibn Yazid: 'When you wear new clothes, say:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ

so that you are absolved from harm. And when you like something, do not mention it too much, for this is one of the things that will destroy you. And when you have a need from a person, do not curse him behind his back, for Allah will cast it into his heart!''

5️⃣Zurayq said: 'I heard Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) say: 'When you put on clothes, say:

اللَّهُمَّ أَلْبِسْنِي لِبَاسَ الْإِيمَانِ وَ زَيِّنِّي بِالتَّقْوَى اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ جَدِيدَهُ أُبْلِيهِ فِي طَاعَتِكَ وَ طَاعَةِ رَسُولِكَ وَ أَبْدِلْنِي بِخَلَقِهِ حُلَلَ الْجَنَّةِ وَ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي أُبْلِيهِ فِي مَعْصِيَتِكَ وَ لَا تُبْدِلْنِي بِخَلَقِهِ مُقَطَّعَاتِ النِّيرَانِ.

6️⃣Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'The Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) said: 'When Allah gives a new garment to a believer, he should perform ablution and pray two rak'ahs, and in each rak'ah, he should recite Surah Al-Hamd, Ayat al-Kursi, Surah Al-Ikhlas, and Surah Al-Qadr. Then he should praise Allah who covered his private parts and adorned him among people, and say 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no power and no strength except with Allah) a lot, for indeed he will not disobey Allah in it, and for every thread of it, there will be an angel who glorifies for him, seeks forgiveness for him, and sends blessings upon him!''

7️⃣Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever recites Surah Al-Qadr 32 times on a new water vessel and sprinkles his new clothes with that water, when he wears it, he will eat in abundance (of sustenance) as long as a thread of it remains!'

8️⃣Imam Ridha (peace be upon him) said: 'Imam Kadhim (peace be upon him) used to wear his clothes from the right side, and when he wanted to wear new clothes, he would ask for a container of water and would recite Surah Al-Qadr ten times, Surah Al-Ikhlas ten times, and Surah Al-Kafirun ten times, and he would sprinkle it on that garment and said: 'Whoever does this before wearing his clothes will always be in abundance of livelihood as long as a thread of it remains!''

📚Uyun Akhbar al-Ridha (peace be upon him), Vol. 1, p. 315

9️⃣Imam Ridha (peace be upon him) narrated from his ancestors that the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) bought a shirt for three dirhams and wore it, and it covered him from his wrist to his ankle, and then he came to the mosque and prayed two rak'ahs in it and then said:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَزَقَنِي مِنَ الرِّيَاشِ مَا أَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ وَ أُؤَدِّي فِيهِ فَرِيضَتِي وَ أَسْتُرُ فِيهِ عَوْرَتِي.
