1 عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ جُلُوسِ الْمَرْأَةِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ تَضُمُّ فَخِذَيْهَا.

Abd al-Rahman said: I asked him (i.e., Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him) about the sitting of a woman in prayer; the Imam said: She gathers and hugs her two thighs (towards herself)!

2 عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْجُعْفِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ الْبَاقِرَ يَقُولُ لَيْسَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ أَذَانٌ وَ لَا إِقَامَةٌ... الي ان قال...

وَ إِذَا قَعَدَتْ لِلتَّشَهُّدِ رَفَعَتْ رِجْلَيْهَا وَ ضَمَّتْ فَخِذَيْهَا....

Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju'fi said: I heard Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) say: There is no 'adhan' and 'iqamah' for women... to the point that he said: When a woman sits for the 'tashahhud', she raises her two feet and gathers and pulls her two thighs (towards herself).

3 عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَيْهَا أَذَانٌ وَ إِقَامَةٌ فَقَالَ إِنْ كَانَتْ تَسْمَعُ أَذَانَ الْقَبِيلَةِ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهَا شَيئ وَ إلّا فَلَيْسَ عَلَیْها أَكْثَرُ مِنَ الشَّهَادَتَيْنِ....إلي أَن قَالَ : إِذَا قَامَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ جَمَعَتْ بَيْنَ قَدَمَيْهَا وَ لَا تُفَرِّجُ بَيْنَهُمَا...فَإِذَا جَلَسَتْ فَعَلَى أَلْيَتَيْهَا لَيْسَ كَمَا يَقًعُدُ الرَّجُلُ... فَإِذَا كَانَتْ فِي جُلُوسِهَا ضَمَّتْ فَخِذَيْهَا وَ رَفَعَتْ رُكْبَتَيْهَا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ

Zurarah said: I said to Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him): Is 'adhan' and 'iqamah' obligatory for a woman? The Imam said: If she hears the 'adhan' of the tribe, there is nothing on her, and if not, there is nothing on her more than the two testimonies... to the point that he said: When a woman stands in prayer, she places her two feet next to each other and does not leave a gap between them... and when she sits, she sits on her two buttocks, not as a man sits... and when she is in the sitting position (i.e., 'tashahhud'), she joins and pulls her two thighs (towards herself) and raises her two knees from the ground....

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, the manner of a woman's sitting during the 'tashahhud' is different from that of a man. In the 'tashahhud' position, a woman places her two buttocks on the ground and sits on them, and she raises her two feet and knees from the ground and pulls and joins her two thighs towards herself, like someone who has hugged her knees.

✅ It is worth noting that the above narrations are narrated with authentic chains and have no contradictory narrations.

✅ The manner of a man's sitting during the 'tashahhud' was mentioned in question 11.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی عَلِیِّ بْنِ مُوسَی الرِّضَا الَّذِی ارْتَضَیْتَهُ وَ رَضِیتَ بِهِ مَنْ شِئْتَ مِنْ خَلْقِکَ اللَّهُمَّ وَ کَمَا جَعَلْتَهُ حُجَّةً عَلَی خَلْقِکَ وَ قَائِماً بِأَمْرِکَ وَ نَاصِراً لِدِینِکَ وَ شَاهِداً عَلَی عِبَادِکَ وَ کَمَا نَصَحَ لَهُمْ فِی السِّرِّ وَ الْعَلَانِیَةِ وَ دَعَا إِلَی سَبِیلِکَ بِالْحِکْمَةِ وَ الْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ فَصَلِّ عَلَیْهِ أَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّیْتَ عَلَی أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَوْلِیَائِکَ وَ خِیَرَتِکَ مِنْ خَلْقِکَ إِنَّکَ جَوَادٌ کَرِیمٌ.
