✅ Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:

1 عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: مَنْ لَمْ يُصَلِّ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ فَلَا صَلَاةَ لَهُ وَ لَا قَضَاءَ عَلَيْهِ.

📚 Al-Tahdhib Vol. 3, p. 128

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The one who does not pray the Eid prayer in congregation with the Imam, there is no prayer for him, and no missed prayer is due upon him!

2 عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّه قَالَ: لَا صَلَاةَ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ إِلَّا مَعَ إِمَامِ فَإِنْ صَلَّيْتَ وَحْدَكَ فَلَا بَأْسَ الْحَدِيثَ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: On Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, there is no prayer except with the Imam, but if you pray individually, there is no problem!

3 عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الْغَنَوِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّه قَالَ: الْخُرُوجُ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ وَ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى إِلَى الْجَبَّانَةِ حَسَنٌ لِمَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ الْخُرُوجَ إِلَيْهَا فَقُلْتُ أَ رَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ مَرِيضاً لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ أَ يُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِهِ قَالَ لَا.

Harun said: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: It is good for a person who is able to go out to go out to the desert on the day of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

I said: Inform me, if a person is sick and cannot go out, should he pray in his house? He said: No!

4 عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ قَيْسٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا الصَّلَاةُ يَوْمَ الْعِيدین عَلَى مَنْ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْجَبَّانَةِ وَ مَنْ لَمْ يَخْرُجْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ صَلَاةٌ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The prayer on the day of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha is for the one who goes out to the desert (for the congregation), and the one who does not go out, there is no prayer upon him!

5 عَنْ عَبْداللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قَالَ: مَنْ لَمْ يَشْهَدْ جَمَاعَةَ النَّاسِ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ وَ لْيَتَطَيَّبْ بِمَا وَجَدَ وَ يُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِهِ وَحْدَهُ كَمَا يُصَلِّي فِي جَمَاعَةٍ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The one who does not attend the congregation of the people on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha should perform ghusl and perfume himself with what he can, and he prays individually in his house just as he would pray in the congregation!

6 عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ قَالَ: سُئِلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّه عَنِ الرَّجُلِ لَا يَخْرُجُ فِي يَوْمِ الْفِطْرِ وَ الْأَضْحَى أَعَلَيْهِ صَلَاةٌ وَحْدَهُ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ.

Halabi said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who does not go out on the day of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, is there a prayer for him to perform alone? He said: Yes!

7 عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قَالَ: مَرِضَ أَبِي يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى فَصَلَّى فِي بَيْتِهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ ضَحَّى.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: My father became sick on the day of Eid al-Adha, so he prayed two rak'ahs in his house and then performed the sacrifice!

✅ According to the above narrations and others, the prayer on the day of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha is with the Imam and in congregation, and a person who, for any reason, does not attend the prayer, is not obligated to perform the prayer individually, although he can perform the Eid prayer individually in his house.

✅ There is no missed prayer for someone who misses the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers.
