1 عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ شِرَاءُ الْحِنْطَةِ يَنْفِي الْفَقْرَ وَ شِرَاءُ الدَّقِيقِ يُنْشِئُ الْفَقْرَ وَ شِرَاءُ الْخُبْزِ مَحْقٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ: لَهُ أَبْقَاكَ اللَّهُ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَقْدِرْ عَلَى شِرَاءِ الْحِنْطَةِ قَالَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَقْدِرُ وَ لَا يَفْعَلُ.

📚 Al-Kafi Vol. 5, p. 166

Abbad ibn Habib said: I heard Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) say: Buying wheat repels poverty, and buying flour creates poverty, and buying bread is a loss and a lack of blessing and destruction!

The narrator said: I said to him: May Allah preserve you! So what about the one who cannot buy wheat? He said: This is for the one who can (buy wheat) and does not do it!

2 عَنْ أَبِي الصَّبَّاحِ الْكِنَانِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَا أَبَا الصَّبَّاحِ شِرَاءُ الدَّقِيقِ ذُلٌّ وَ شِرَاءُ الْحِنْطَةِ عِزٌّ وَ شِرَاءُ الْخُبْزِ فَقْرٌ فَنَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ.

📚 Al-Kafi Vol. 5, p. 167

Abu Sabbah al-Kinani said: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said to me: O Aba Sabbah! Buying flour is humiliation, and buying wheat is honor, and buying bread is poverty! So we seek refuge in Allah from poverty!

3 عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ السَّيَّارِيِّ عَنْ شَيْخٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: مِنْ مُرِّ الْعَيْشِ النُّقْلَةُ مِنْ دَارٍ إِلَى دَارٍ وَ أَكْلُ خُبْزِ الشِّرَاءِ [الشري] .

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: From the bitterness of life is moving from one house to another and eating bought bread!

4 عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: إِذَا كَانَ عِنْدَكَ دِرْهَمٌ فَاشْتَرِ بِهِ الْحِنْطَةَ فَإِنَّ الْمَحْقَ فِي الدَّقِيقِ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: When you have one dirham of money, buy wheat with it, for the lack of blessing and deficiency is in (buying) flour!

5 عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: مَنِ اشْتَرَى الْحِنْطَةَ زَادَ مَالُهُ وَ مَنِ اشْتَرَى الدَّقِيقَ ذَهَبَ نِصْفُ مَالِهِ وَ مَنِ اشْتَرَى الْخُبْزَ ذَهَبَ مَالُهُ.

📚 Al-Tahdhib Vol. 7, p. 162

Imam Kazim (peace be upon him) said: The one who buys wheat, his wealth increases, and the one who buys flour, half of his wealth is destroyed, and the one who buys bread, his wealth is destroyed!

✅ We see that in the above narrations, the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) have strongly recommended us to buy wheat for preparing household bread so that after converting it to flour, we can prepare the bread we and our family consume.

Unfortunately, the disregard of the Shi'a for these recommendations of the infallible Imams (peace be upon them) and today's lifestyles have caused most people to be content with buying bread and as a result, suffer from poverty, lack of blessing, and humiliation.

✅ Of course, according to narration 1️⃣, these consequences are for someone who has the ability to buy wheat, which most people have, and especially with today's means, it is possible to prepare bread with flour from wheat that we have bought ourselves.

✅ Of course, if a person cannot bake bread himself, he can buy wheat and turn it into flour and give it to someone who is able to bake it and pay the baking fee. In this way, this possibility is available to almost everyone, and negligence in following such instructions of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in our lifestyle has caused us to suffer from numerous problems, especially regarding the consumption of bought bread. In addition to the consequences mentioned in the above hadiths, we buy and consume breads with incomplete and chemically mixed flour and suffer from their side effects.

✅ Let's come and, according to the recommendation of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), buy wheat and turn it into whole flour and then either bake the bread ourselves or by paying a baker, prepare our bread in this way and benefit from its many blessings, one of which is the increase of wealth. Insha'Allah.
