Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: When you bring the deceased to the grave, gently place their feet into the grave from the lower side (feet side).

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said in a narration about the religious laws: The deceased enters the grave from the side of the two feet gently and tenderly, and the woman is placed sideways from the side of the grave...

4⃣عَنْ عَمَّارٍ السَّابَاطِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّه قَالَ: لِكُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ بَابٌ وَ بَابُ الْقَبْرِ مِمَّا يَلِي الرِّجْلَيْنِ إِذَا وَضَعْتَ الْجِنَازَةَ فَضَعْهَا مِمَّا يَلِي الرِّجْلَيْنِ يُخْرَجُ الْمَيِّتُ مِمَّا يَلِي الرِّجْلَيْن

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: Everything has a door, and the door of the grave is from the side of the two feet (lower part of the grave). When you want to place the deceased in the grave, put them from the side of the two feet and pull them from the side of the two feet (in the grave)!

5⃣عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: سُلَّهُ سَلًّا رَفِيقاً

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: Gently and tenderly bring the deceased into the grave.

6⃣عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنِ الرِّضَا فِي كِتَابِهِ إِلَى الْمَأْمُونِ قَالَ: وَ الْمَيِّتُ يُسَلُّ مِنْ قِبَلِ رِجْلَيْهِ وَ يُرْفَقُ بِهِ إِذَا أَدْخَلَهُ قَبْرَهُ.

Imam Ridha, peace be upon him, wrote in a letter to Ma'mun: The deceased enters gently and tenderly from the side of the two feet (lower part of the grave), and when he is brought into the grave, he is treated with gentleness!

7⃣عَنْ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ هَارُونَ رَفَعَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِذَا أُدْخِلَ الْمَيِّتَ الْقَبْرَ إِنْ كَانَ رَجُلًا يُسَلُّ سَلًّا وَ الْمَرْأَةُ تُؤْخَذُ عَرْضاً فَإِنَّهُ أَسْتَرُ.

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: When the deceased enters the grave, if he is a man, he is brought in gently from the side of the two feet (lower part of the grave), and if she is a woman, she is placed sideways because it is more modest!

8⃣عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ آبَائِهِ عَنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ: يُسَلُّ الرَّجُلُ سَلًّا وَ تُسْتَقْبَلُ الْمَرْأَةُ اسْتِقْبَالًا وَ يَكُونُ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِالْمَرْأَةِ فِي مُؤَخَّرِهَا.

✅ It is clear from the above narrations and others that the deceased should be placed in the grave with kindness, tenderness, and gentleness. If the deceased is a man, their feet should be placed from the lower part of the grave, and they should be brought into the grave with the head entering from the side of the feet. For women, they should be placed sideways, in line with the direction of the grave facing Qibla, and entered in the same way into the grave.
