✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:

1 عَبْداللَّه بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قَالَ: لَا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُؤْمِنِ أَنْ يَجْلِسَ مَجْلِساً يُعْصَى اللَّهُ فِيهِ وَ لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَى تَغْيِيرِهِ

📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 2, p. 374

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: It is not proper for a believer to sit in a gathering where Allah is disobeyed and he is unable to change and prevent it!

2 عَن شُعَيْبٍ الْعَقَرْقُوفِيِّ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْداللَّهِ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ قَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتابِ أَنْ إِذا سَمِعْتُمْ آياتِ اللَّهِ يُكْفَرُ بِها وَ يُسْتَهْزَأُ بِها إِلَى آخَرِ الْآيَةِ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا عَنَى بِهَذَا الرَّجُلَ يَجْحَدُ الْحَقَّ وَ يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ وَ يَقَعُ فِي الْأَئِمَّةِ- فَقُمْ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ وَ لَا تُقَاعِدْهُ كَائِناً مَنْ كَانَ.

📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 2, p. 377

Shu'ayb said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about the divine saying (in Surah An-Nisa, verse 140) which says: 'And Allah has revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the signs of Allah being denied and ridiculed, do not sit with them until they enter into another discourse. Otherwise, you will be like them.' The Imam said: Indeed, the meaning is that a person denies the truth and belies it and finds fault with and slanders the Imams (peace be upon them), so stand up from him and do not sit with him, whoever he may be!

3 عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى بْنِ أَعْيَنَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَ الْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَجْلِسْ مَجْلِساً يُنْتَقَصُ فِيهِ إِمَامٌ أَوْ يُعَابُ فِيهِ مُؤْمِنٌ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit in a gathering where an Imam is slandered or a believer is found fault with!

4 ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قال: قال أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَ الْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَقُومُ مَكَانَ رِيبَةٍ

The Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit in a place that is subject to suspicion and accusation!

5 إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ أَخِيهِ وَ عَمِّهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّه قَالَ: ثَلَاثَةُ مَجَالِسَ يَمْقُتُهَا اللَّهُ وَ يُرْسِلُ نَقِمَتَهُ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا فَلَا تُقَاعِدُوهُمْ وَ لَا تُجَالِسُوهُمْ مَجْلِساً فِيهِ مَنْ يَصِفُ لِسَانُهُ كَذِباً فِي فُتْيَاهُ وَ مَجْلِساً ذِكْرُ أَعْدَائِنَا فِيهِ جَدِيدٌ وَ ذِكْرُنَا فِيهِ رَثٌّ وَ مَجْلِساً فِيهِ مَنْ يَصُدُّ عَنَّا وَ أَنْتَ تَعْلَمُ ثُمَّ تَلَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ثَلَاثَ آيَاتٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ- كَأَنَّمَا كُنَّ فِي فِيهِ أَوْ قَالَ فِي كَفِّهِ وَ لا تَسُبُّوا الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَيَسُبُّوا اللَّهَ عَدْواً بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَ إِذا رَأَيْتَ الَّذِينَ يَخُوضُونَ فِي آياتِنا فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّى يَخُوضُوا فِي حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِ وَ لا تَقُولُوا لِما تَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ الْكَذِبَ هذا حَلالٌ وَ هذا حَرامٌ لِتَفْتَرُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ الْكَذِبَ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: There are three gatherings that are subject to the severe wrath of Allah, and He sends His punishment and vengeance upon the people of that gathering, so do not sit and socialize with them:

❌ A gathering in which a person is present whose tongue speaks false and baseless fatwas!

❌ And a gathering in which the mention of our enemies is new and our mention is old and worn out!

❌ And a gathering in which there is someone who prevents from us, and you are aware of it!

Then the Imam recited three verses from the Quran (in support of the above three points), as if they were in his mouth! Or he said: As if they were in his palm:

وَ لا تَسُبُّوا الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَيَسُبُّوا اللَّهَ عَدْواً بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ

📖Surah Al-An'am, verse 108

وَ إِذا رَأَيْتَ الَّذِينَ يَخُوضُونَ فِي آياتِنا فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّى يَخُوضُوا فِي حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِ

📖Surah Al-An'am, verse 68

وَ لا تَقُولُوا لِما تَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ الْكَذِبَ هذا حَلالٌ وَ هذا حَرامٌ لِتَفْتَرُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ الْكَذِبَ

📖Surah An-Nahl, verse 116

✅According to hadith 5 and others, we must be careful of gatherings that are even held in the name of religion and in which false fatwas are given by the speaker or in which the enemies of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) like the Sufis (may the curse of Allah be upon them) and the tyrants and... are praised and glorified, and also avoid gatherings in which there are sins like singing and music and the broadcasting of gambling films and so on.

6 عن أَبِي عَبْداللَّه فِي حديث قال: مَا اجْتَمَعَ ثَلَاثَةٌ مِنَ الْجَاحِدِينَ إِلَّا حَضَرَهُمْ عَشَرَةُ أَضْعَافِهِمْ مِنَ الشَّيَاطِينِ فَإِنْ تَكَلَّمُوا تَكَلَّمَ الشَّيَاطِينُ بِنَحْوِ كَلَامِهِمْ وَ إِذَا ضَحِكُوا ضَحِكُوا مَعَهُمْ و إِذَا نَالُوا مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءِ اللَّهِ نَالُوا مَعَهُمْ فَمَنِ ابْتُلِيَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِهِمْ فَإِذَا خَاضُوا فِي ذَلِكَ فَلْيَقُمْ وَ لَا يَكُنْ شِرْكَ شَيْطَانٍ وَ لَا جَلِيسَهُ فَإِنَّ غَضَبَ اللَّهِ لَا يَقُومُ لَهُ شَيْ ءٌ وَ لَعْنَتَهُ لَا يَرُدُّهَا شَيْ ءٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَلْيُنْكِرْ بِقَلْبِهِ و لْيَقُمْ وَ لَوْ حَلْبَ شَاةٍ أَوْ فُوَاقَ نَاقَةٍ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: No three deniers gather together except that ten times their number of devils are present with them. So if they speak, the devils also speak like them, and whenever they laugh, the devils also laugh with them, and when they slander and revile the friends of Allah, they also revile and slander with them. So whoever among the believers is afflicted with them, whenever they delve into this talk, he must stand up and not be a partner and companion of Satan, for nothing can withstand the wrath of Allah, and nothing can avert His curse. Then he said: If he cannot (stand up), he must deny it with his heart, and he must stand up, even if it is for the time it takes to milk a sheep or the interval between milking a camel!

7 هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِم عَن أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قال: إِذَا ابْتُلِيتَ بِأَهْلِ النَّصْبِ وَ مُجَالَسَتِهِمْ فَكُنْ كَأَنَّكَ عَلَى الرَّضْفِ حَتَّى تَقُومَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَمْقُتُهُمْ وَ يَلْعَنُهُمْ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ يَخُوضُونَ فِي ذِكْرِ إِمَامٍ مِنَ الْأَئِمَّةِ فَقُمْ فَإِنَّ سَخَطَ اللَّهِ يَنْزِلُ هُنَاكَ عَلَيْهِم

📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 2, p. 379

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: When you are afflicted with the people of animosity (towards the Ahl al-Bayt and their followers) and companionship with them, then be as if you are on a hot stone until you stand up, for indeed, Allah intensely hates and curses them. So when you see them delve into the mention of an Imam from the Imams (peace be upon them), stand up, for the wrath of Allah descends upon them at that time!

8 قال عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ لَيْسَ لَكَ أَنْ تَقْعُدَ مَعَ مَنْ شِئْتَ لِأَنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ وَ إِذا رَأَيْتَ الَّذِينَ يَخُوضُونَ فِي آياتِنا فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّى يَخُوضُوا فِي حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِ وَ إِمَّا يُنْسِيَنَّكَ الشَّيْطانُ فَلا تَقْعُدْ بَعْدَ الذِّكْرى مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ

📚Ilal al-Shara'i, p. 605

Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) said: It is not for you to sit with whomever you want, for Allah says (in Surah Al-An'am, verse 68): 'And when you see those who delve into Our verses, turn away from them until they delve into another discourse. And if Satan causes you to forget, then after the reminder, do not sit with the unjust people!'

9 عن أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: مَنْ قَعَدَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ يُسَبُّ فِيهِ إِمَامٌ مِنَ الْأَئِمَّةِ يَقْدِرُ عَلَى الِانْتِصَافِ فَلَمْ يَفْعَلْ أَلْبَسَهُ اللَّهُ الذُّلَّ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ عَذَّبَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ وَ سَلَبَهُ صَالِحَ مَا مَنَّ بِهِ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ مَعْرِفَتِنَا

📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 2, p. 379

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: Whoever sits in a gathering where an Imam from the Imams is slandered and he is able to take vengeance and does not do so, Allah will clothe him with humiliation in this world and will punish him in the hereafter and will take away from him that righteous matter of our knowledge that He has given him!

✅A gathering of sin is a gathering in which divine disobedience occurs, and in the above narrations and others, it is observed that sitting in a gathering of sin is severely forbidden. And of course, some sins like finding fault with and slandering the Imams (peace be upon them) and slandering and backbiting a believer and Muslim and a gathering in which a false fatwa is stated and... are specifically mentioned, and it is recommended that if someone is afflicted with such gatherings, he must either change and prevent it or he must stand up from that gathering, and if his circumstances are such that it is not possible to stand up, he must deny it with his heart and stand up from that gathering as soon as possible.

Today, given the religious deviation of many people, we must be careful of gatherings of sin, whether they are parties or otherwise, and we must avoid participating in such gatherings.

The matter of the condemnation of sitting with the people of sin has separate hadiths.

✅The necessity of maintaining kinship ties is not a justification for doing so by participating in a gathering of sin.
