Answer
✅ Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 4, p. 183
Abd al-Karim ibn 'Amr said: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): 'I have resolved upon myself to fast until al-Qa'im (peace be upon him) rises!'
The Imam said: 'Fast! But do not fast when traveling, on the day of Eid al-Fitr, on Eid al-Adha, during the days of Tashriq, and on the 'day of doubt'!'
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 141
Karram said: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): 'I have resolved upon myself (i.e., made a vow) to fast until al-Qa'im (peace be upon him) rises!'
The Imam said: 'Fast! But do not fast when traveling, on Eid al-Fitr, on Eid al-Adha, during the days of Tashriq, and on the day about which there is doubt concerning the month of Ramadan (i.e., the 'day of doubt') (with the intention of it being an obligatory fast)!'
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 1, p. 534
Karram said: I made an oath within myself that I would never eat during the day until al-Qa'im of the family of Muhammad (peace be upon him) rises. So I went to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) and asked him about this.
The Imam said: 'O Karram! In that case, fast, but do not fast on Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, the three days of Tashriq, and when you are traveling or sick!'
✅ According to the above narrations and others, a person who makes a vow or intends to fast until the advent of al-Qa'im of the family of Muhammad (peace be upon him) must fast on all days except for the days when fasting is forbidden.
✅ According to the narration in 📚 Tahdhib, Vol. 4, p. 297, and others, the prohibition of fasting during the days of Tashriq, which are the 11th, 12th, and 13th of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, is for someone who is in Mina, and there is no problem in other cities.
✅ According to the narration in 📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 7, p. 455, and others, the obligation to perform these fasts is only if a valid vow has been made. If it was not a vow or the vow was not valid, he has permission not to fast and to abandon it.
✅ Blessed are those for whom the advent of the Master is so important that they are willing to fast all days of the year for it, except for the forbidden days!
