📚 Misbah al-Mutahajjid, p. 713

Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, in the hadith of the Ziyarah of Ashura from near or far, said: ... If you can, do not go out on that day to seek a need, because the day of Ashura is a cursed day, and the need of a believer is not fulfilled on it, and if it is fulfilled, there will be no blessing in it for him, and he will not see growth and progress in it, and none of you should store anything for his household on that day, for whoever stores something on that day, there will be no blessing for him in what he has stored, and there will be no blessing for him in his family!

📚 Ilal al-Shara'i, p. 227

Imam Reza, peace be upon him, said: Whoever abandons the pursuit of his needs and work on the day of Ashura, Allah will fulfill his needs of this world and the hereafter, and whoever considers the day of Ashura a day of calamity, sorrow, and weeping, Allah, the Exalted, will make the Day of Judgment a day of joy and happiness for him, and his eyes will be brightened by us in the Gardens of Paradise, and whoever calls the day of Ashura a day of blessing and stores something for his household on it, there will be no blessing for him in what he has stored, and on the Day of Judgment, he will be resurrected with Yazid, Ubaydullah, and Umar ibn Sa'd, may Allah's curse be upon all of them, in the lowest part of Hell!

📚 Amali al-Saduq, p. 111, H. 2

Imam Reza, peace be upon him, said in a hadith: ... When the month of Muharram entered, my father was not seen smiling, and grief and sorrow would overcome him until ten days had passed, and when the tenth day arrived, it was a day of calamity, sorrow, and weeping for him, and he would say: On this day, Husayn, peace be upon him, was killed!

📚 Mahasin, Vol. 1, p. 229

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: People are commanded (to do some things) and forbidden (from doing some things), and whoever has an excuse (in a matter), Allah accepts his excuse!

✅ According to the above and other narrations, the day of Ashura is a day of calamity, grief, sorrow, and weeping, and one is forbidden from going to seek work and needs, and one is forbidden from storing anything for the household on this day, and it is necessary to obey the command of the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, in this matter.

✅ However, the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, have accepted excuses for those who are excused in narrations, and therefore, tasks such as taking care of the essential food and water for animals for livestock farmers or taking care of the sick and the like are considered among the cases of permission.
