Answer

✅ Answer: 'Mihaq' refers to the last two or three nights of the lunar month, during which the moon is not visible either at night or during the day. The reason is that it rises at the same time as the sun, so it is hidden and not visible at any time of the day or night. Certain actions are forbidden during this time, which is specified in the following narrations:

📚 Al-Mahasin, Vol. 2, p. 348

Translation: Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, or Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: When my father went out on the last Wednesday of the month and on days like the 'mihaq' or other days that people considered inauspicious (for travel), he would first give a charity and then travel.

📚 Ilal al-Shara'i, Vol. 2, p. 514

Translation: Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, said in a hadith: Whoever marries while the moon is in the sign of Scorpio will not see goodness and blessings, and he said: Whoever marries (performs the marriage contract) during the 'mihaq' of the moon must be prepared for a miscarriage. (He will be afflicted with a miscarriage).

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 5, p. 499

Translation: Imam Kazim, peace be upon him, said: Whoever has intercourse with his wife during the 'mihaq' of the moon must be prepared for a miscarriage.

📚 Man La Yahduruhu al-Faqih, Vol. 3, p. 553

Translation: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said to Amir al-Mu'minin, peace be upon him, in a hadith: O Ali; when the moon is in its last degree, when two days of the month remain, do not have intercourse with your wife, because if a child is conceived between you, he will be a tax collector and an assistant to the oppressors, and the destruction of a group of people will be at his hands.

✅ Other days are also prohibited for this matter in the narrations of the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, such as the first night and the middle night of the month, Wednesday nights, the night of Eid al-Fitr, the night of Eid al-Adha, etc., which are of great importance. While learning their hadiths and acting upon them, because unfortunately many people are unaware of them and as a result face many problems, efforts should be made to teach the relevant narrations to Muslims. Of course, acting upon these narrations requires knowledge of the beginning and end of the lunar month, so we must be diligent in sighting the moon for all months and also look for the 'mihaq' at the end of the month.

✅ It should be noted that in the last days of the lunar month and to determine the 'mihaq', the moon can only be seen in the eastern region for a few minutes after dawn and before sunrise. If the moon is not seen at that time, it indicates that the moon is in 'mihaq', which usually begins on the night of the 28th of the month.
