Question 770: Is it only the sleep of a fasting person that is worship, or the sleep of a believer in general?
Answer
✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚 Thawab al-A'mal, p. 46
Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: The sleep of a fasting person is worship, and his silence is glorification, and his deeds are accepted, and his supplication is answered!
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said in the sermon on the virtues of the month of Ramadan: Your breaths in it are glorification, and your sleep in it is worship, and your deeds in it are accepted, and your supplication in it is answered!
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 8, p. 214
Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said in a hadith: I swear by Allah, there is no servant from our Shia who recites the Quran in a standing prayer, except that for every letter, he has a hundred good deeds. If he recites the Quran in a seated prayer, for every letter, he has fifty good deeds, and outside of prayer, for every letter, he has ten good deeds. If he is silent, he has the reward of the recitation of the opponents. I swear by Allah, you are asleep in your beds, but you receive the reward of the mujahidin (holy warriors); you are in prayer, but you receive the reward of those who are lined up in the way of Allah in the battlefield. I swear by Allah, you are the ones about whom Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, says: 'And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [as] brothers, on thrones facing one another,' {And We will remove whatever resentment is in their breasts, and they sit as brothers on thrones facing one another}. Indeed, our Shia have four eyes: two eyes in the head and two eyes in the heart. Of course, all humans are like this, but Allah has opened your eyes and blinded theirs!

📚 Makarim al-Akhlaq, p. 500
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said in his will to Ali, peace be upon him, among other things: O Ali! The sleep of a learned person is more virtuous than the worship of an ignorant worshiper!
📚 Faqih, Vol. 4, p. 364
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said in his will to Amir al-Mu'minin, peace be upon him: O Ali, the groan of a (sick) believer is 'Subhan Allah,' his shout is 'La ilaha illa Allah,' his sleep on his bed is worship, and his turning from side to side is jihad in the way of Allah. So if he recovers, he walks among the people while there is no sin on him!
✅It is clear from the above narrations that in addition to the sleep of a fasting person being worship, the sleep of a Shia, a sick believer, and a scholar is also considered worship!
