1 أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الثُّمَالِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَر أَنَّهُ قَالَ: مَا نَوَى عَبْدٌ أَنْ يَقُومَ أَيَّةَ سَاعَةٍ نَوَى فَعَلِمَ اللَّهُ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ إِلَّا وَكَّلَ بِهِ مَلَكَيْنِ يُحَرِّكَانِهِ تِلْكَ السَّاعَة

📚Al-Faqih, Vol. 1, p. 479

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'No servant intends to get up at a certain hour and Allah knows this from his intention, except that He appoints two angels to move him at that hour!'

2 عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْداللَّهِ بْنِ جُذَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قَالَ: مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَقْرَأُ آخِرَ الْكَهْفِ حِينَ يَنَامُ إِلَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ فِي السَّاعَةِ الَّتِي يُرِيدُ

📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 2, p. 632

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'There is no servant who, when he goes to sleep, recites the last verse of Surah Al-Kahf, except that he wakes up at the hour he intended!'

✅The last verse of Surah Al-Kahf:

قُلْ إِنَّما أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ يُوحى إِلَيَّ أَنَّما إِلهُكُمْ إِلهٌ واحِدٌ فَمَنْ كانَ يَرْجُوا لِقاءَ رَبِّهِ فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلاً صالِحاً وَ لا يُشْرِكْ بِعِبادَةِ رَبِّهِ أَحَداً

3 عَنِ الصَّادِقِ علیه السلام قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِیُّ صلی الله علیه و آله: مَنْ أَرَادَ قِیَامَ اللَّیْلِ وَ أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ فَلْیَقُلْ اللَّهُمَّ لَا تُؤْمِنِّی مَکْرَکَ وَ لَا تُنْسِنِی ذِکْرَکَ وَ لَا تَجْعَلْنِی مِنَ الْغَافِلِینَ أَقُومُ سَاعَةَ کَذَا وَ کَذَا فَإِنَّهُ یُوَکِّلُ اللَّهُ بِهِ مَلَکاً یُنَبِّهُهُ تِلْکَ السَّاعَة

📚Bihar, Vol. 76, p. 202

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: 'Whoever intends to get up at night, when he is in his bed, he should say:

اللَّهُمَّ لَا تُؤْمِنِّی مَکْرَکَ وَ لَا تُنْسِنِی ذِکْرَکَ وَ لَا تَجْعَلْنِی مِنَ الْغَافِلِینَ أَقُومُ سَاعَةَ «کَذَا وَ کَذَا»

(Instead of 'so and so', he mentions the hour he intends to wake up)

For Allah will appoint an angel for him to wake him up at that hour!'

✅With three things, namely:

1️⃣ Intending to wake up at a specific time

2️⃣ Reciting the last verse of Surah Al-Kahf and intending to wake up at a specific time

3️⃣ Reciting the supplication mentioned in the third hadith and mentioning the specific hour to wake up, we can, by the grace of Allah, wake up for the night prayer.

✅However, we must be careful that when we wake up, we get up from our place so that we are not condemned in this way: 👇

4 الصَّيْقَلِ عن أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قال: إِنِّي لَأَمْقُتُ الرَّجُلَ قَدْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ يَسْتَيْقِظُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلَا يَقُومُ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ عِنْدَ الصُّبْحِ قَامَ يُبَادِرُ بِالصَّلَاة

📚Al-Faqih, Vol. 1, p. 479

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'I dislike a person who has read the Qur'an and wakes up at night but does not get up until he gets up close to dawn and rushes to the prayer!'

✅And also let's be careful about who prevents us from getting up when we wake up and what he does to us: 👇

5 مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَر قَال: إِنَّ لِلَّيْلِ شَيْطَاناً يُقَالُ لَهُ الزهاء فَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ الْعَبْدُ وَ أَرَادَ الْقِيَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ لَهُ لَيْسَتْ سَاعَتُكَ ثُمَّ يَسْتَيْقِظُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَيَقُولُ لَهُ لَمْ يَأْنِ لَكَ فَمَا يَزَالُ كَذَلِكَ يُزِيلُهُ وَ يَحْبِسُهُ حَتَّى يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ فَإِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ بَالَ فِي أُذُنِهِ ثُمَّ انْصَاعَ يَمْصَعُ بِذَنَبِهِ فَخْراً وَ يَصِيحُ

📚Al-Mahasin, p. 86

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed, there is a devil for the night who is called 'Zaha'! So when a servant wakes up and intends to get up for prayer, that devil says to him: '(Now) is not your time!' Then he wakes up again, and that devil says to him again: 'Your time has not yet come!' So he keeps turning him away and holding him until dawn breaks. Then when dawn breaks, he urinates in his ear and returns quickly, wagging his tail out of pride and shouting!'

6️⃣ A man came to Ali (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Commander of the Faithful! I am deprived of the night prayer!' The Imam said: 'You are a person whose sins have shackled you!'

✅So, abandoning sins frees us from our shackles so that we can get up for the night prayer.
